Gary-floor heat, You suggested looking at IdealHeat film with the attached Anti-Fracture membrane and adhesive. Does the product with attached Anti-fracture membrane and adhesive not need underlayment? Is there a was to find out the pros and cons for both types so I can get the product that is best for my circumstances?
Asked by: SP
The anti-Fracture film has some advantages. 1.It comes with the cold leads attached the Film only product you'll need to attach the cold leads. 2. The anti-fracture is the correct choice if you are installing Tile, marble, or stone over it. 3. It has an adhesive which makes it easy to keep in place as you begin to install your surface. 4. The anti-Fracture feature helps prevent the tile from cracking should there be slight imperfections in the cement slab. 5. Cost is similar. I hope this helps!

What underlayment is recommended to use with this product when installing over a basement concrete slab?

We recommend a 1/4" foam insulation. This is sold at Home Depot and the flooring associate should be able to give you some guidance. I would also suggest looking at our film with the attached Anti-Fracture membrane a nd adhesive.

Can this system be used under tile? (Rectangular wood grain tile, also bought at Home Depot)

Asked by: Toni
Toni, We have two other products that are much better suited for use under tile. The ideal Heat mat with ribbon technology or if you like film, we have a film product like what you have purchased except it has an anti-fracture membrane which makes it an excellent choice for under tile as it helps prevent the tile from cracking should the sub floor shift and also allows traditional tile setting materials to be used.
