I upgraded our 15 year old Badger 1/3 HP with this Badger 3/4 HP in about 40 minutes. The instructions were easy to read - and be sure to read them if you have a dishwasher line to hook up or you might forget to tap out the dishwasher drain line fitting plug before you connect the hose from the dishwasher. No way I did that! I always read the instructions.
I could have retained all the old fittings since they match, but in for a penny-in for a pound, I wanted to spruce up the drain with new chrome. Here again those instructions are handy. They give a hint on setting the old unit in the sink to hold down the drain assembly as you tighten it from below. No way I did that either! Heck, what are wives for but to inconvenience with "Honey, could you come here for a moment and hold this drain down while I get under the sink and tighten it?" Yeah, marital bonding at its finest. If I'd followed the instructions it would have taken 10 minutes and less of 'those looks".
I went with the larger model because it is quieter and probably will never strain on most of what goes down the drain. You can see that it's excellent for all that extra work around the holidays. Bon appitite mon ami Badger 900!

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Jack Badger 900 has some good features
Badger 900 proved easy to swap out replacing a internally rusted Badger 5. Used a screwdriver to pry off the dishwasher hose after loosening the clamp. Pluming was easy since the size was an exact match. A heat gun softened the old Plummer putty on the sink portion. Screwdriver helped remove the snap ring, and that collar came off easily. Swapped the cord off the old unit and installed on the new. Put rope of putty under collar, and put towel in sink and placed new unit on collar to hold in place while installing new snap ring. Tightened screws to pull into place, and put new unit up and locked into place with a few taps of the hammer. Finished by re attaching the pipes. These with water showed no leaks. Plugged cord into wall outlet, turned on water, switch on, unit runs nicely! All done in about 35 minutes.

This model is replacing our OLD model, which was so rusty and corroded, but continued to work until it absolutely wore out. This new model is a lot quieter than our previous model, which we really appreciate. We don't put chunks of food waste in our disposal, only the bits that come off our scraped plates or what had been stuck to pots and pans or bake ware. This disposal takes care of the food bits quickly. We do have difficulty, however, with the stopper. It takes a bit of work to get it in place properly so water doesn't leak out of the sink while washing dishes. Otherwise, we are satisfied with our purchase.

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Patty Best disposal we've ever had!
We had purchased a disposal two years ago and recently started smelling an odor under the sink. Low and behold, a leak in the disposal and mold had set in under the cabinet. Immediately called a contractor and he came that day....cut out the cabinet and dried everything out for about 1 1/2 weeks. He recommended our Badger 900 disposal, purchased it, installed it and just this morning (Wednesday), my husband commented as he was doing the breakfast dishes (yes he does the dirty dishes after every meal) "this is the best disposal we've ever had!" Now that is after 39 years of marriage and this man knows his disposals. Would recommend this to everyone.

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by kp2929 Such a relief,
I've had 1/3 hp disposals since I bought my home in 1999. When the original needed replacement, I replaced it with the same size and in just a few years needed to replace it again. I reviewed available size hp products and was certain I wasn't overloading it. My recent purchase and install was an insinkerator 3/4 hp. My concern regarding noise was immediately relieved. The function of your insinkerator is better than I expected, and it's quieter than the sales representative explained. Install was easy, too. I generally do my own household maintenance and repair/replacements.

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Jim38 Good Product, very dependable. would buy no other!
Hardest part of Installation is lifting disposer up to engage camp on drain.
Found best way was to use small auto jack to lift unit.
Have used the badger units for years. This is about my 5th one over 20 or 30 years, All have worked well.

This product is good for what it does but the instructions are vague in many area's. Would be nice to have more detailed instructions and better information detailing all the items needed to install. Would be nice to have maintenance recommendation and repair instructions when problems occur.

We got this disposal because our neighbor got it and we were able to see and hear it in use. The installation was easy and once everything was in place it was time for a test run. Bring on the table scraps! The disposal took care of everything easily. Vegetable peels and eggs shells were consumed quickly. The operation is relatively quiet as well. Overall, we're pleased with our purchase.
