is tis new insinkerator hard wiored or doe's it have a cord that needs a outlet

Asked by: Anonymous
It comes with no wiring; you must supply the electrical connection, whether you are hard-wiring it or adding a plug for an outlet. I was able to use the wiring from my old disposer.

is this unit continuous feed ?

Asked by: Anonymous
Yes. Any 3 prong cord will work. However, Insinkerator's answer is not completely correct. If the old disposal you are replacing has a factory installed cord with the plastic grommet, all you have to do is simply cut the cord at the grommet and re-strip the wires to reuse a factory installed cord. I use the existing cord 99 percent of the time when replacing a disposal. Saves the customer from having to pay for a new cord when you have a perfectly good one right in front of you.

Evolution Compact 3/4 HP Continuous Feed Garbage Disposal is rated 4.7 out of 5 by 2030.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Super Garbage Disposal!! The Evolution Compact is a bit larger, more powerful, and so much more quieter than the Badger we were replacing that has served us for 14 years. Installation was fast and easy. My husband used his hydraulic jack to help lift and hold it into place while he worked. Everything you need is included in the box. I don't think you can go wrong purchasing this brand.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Well made ... but size matters This unit is very powerful. Just as soon as you turn it on, get ready to turn it off. I give this model top marks in all categories but one. Unfortunately I don't think the entire industry is ready for the next step. This unit is listed as compact. I would not come close to describing it as such. Too me the diameter and height do not reflect the state of technology today. I don't know how much the cost would increase to implement more compact and powerful technology, but I would have seriously considered it at the time of purchase. For me space under the sink is a big deal.

A well-designed unit, good instructions, reasonably easy installation,,,,,although a second person to hold the top flange in place while you install the bottom flange & ring-clip makes it much easier. Extremely quiet! My only criticism is that the on-line description did not note that this disposal is appropriate for septic systems. I bought a septic-assist model (for about $35 more) for another house, thinking I needed it as that house is on a septic system. Turns out the Evolution is approved for septic systems (as noted on the box) , so I could have saved some money.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Leaking at 6 years Disappointed that my disposal is leaking from the bottom after just 6 years of light use in a single-person household. All connections are tight and correct, and there is no leaking from sink or flange, so I can only conclude that an internal seal has broken or there's a failure inside the disposal itself. Up until now, the disposal has worked great. It's quiet, it doesn't clog, and it was easy to install. But 6 years is WAY too short a lifespan for a higher-end disposal. My previous Insinkerator lasted more than 20 years, and this was supposed to be a quality upgrade. Given how good most of the reviews are, I suspect I got a lemon, but it's still very disappointing given the cost and effort of replacement. More money down the drain - literally.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from I wish I could give this disposal a good recommendation. I've used and installed this brand since... I wish I could give this disposal a good recommendation. I've used and installed this brand since 1970, and have always liked them. But I cannot recommend this one. Your sink, by law, must have a 2 inch drain. But, Insinkerator reduces the opening into the disposal to 1/2" with their rubber inlet piece, which guarantees that the sink will backup as you empty pots into it. They claim it's done in order to quiet the disposal. But if you pour a pot of pasta water into your sink, your colander had better sit more than an inch off the bottom of the sink. Because if it doesn't, any crud or germs remaining in the sink will wash the bottom of the pasta. And that is a deal-breaker, as is anything that restricts the flow of the sink that severely. Customers should NOT have to sterilize their sink before using a colander. Additionally, they have, according to the manufacturer's letter, changed their technique to a slower but finer grind. What this means, in practice, is that you can no longer dispose of banana skins, because you will be faced with tangled balls of fiber in the disposal chamber. I would expect that this extends to other fibrous foods, as well.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great grinder This is the best grinder I have ever had. It is extremely efficient at grinding anything I have thrown in it, including small bones and even potato peels. Additionally, it is incredibly quiet to the point that unless you are right next to the sink, you can't hear it over the running water. Installation was a 15 minute process, as my previous grinder was a very old InSinkErator grinder. There was nothing to do but twist out the old one, twist in the new one, reconnect the dishwasher drain, and plug it in. My wife thought I was a master plumber. I will probably never need to replace it (I'm kinda getting up there in age), but would do the same if I ever had to. I will recommend this to anyone looking to replace a grinder. Well done, InSinkErator!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Everything I hoped for This is a sturdy, reliable disposer. It fits easily under my sink in limited space, which is why I chose it over other Insinkerator models. To describe how quiet it is, the amount of noise it makes when it is grinding waste is comparable to my old disposer when it was turned on with nothing in it. The baffle contributes to how quiet it is, but I have not experienced any of the buildup of water or lack of drainage that other reviewers have described. Lastly, the handyman I used to install it took less than a half hour to do the work. The old disposer came off with a simple turn of the ring at the neck of the disposer, and the new one was put in with the same ease. Looking back, I could have done it myself and saved a few dollars on installation. Very pleased for the 2 months we have had it.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Much Better than the Badger 900 This disposal replaces the Insinkerator Badger 900 that I was totally disappointed in. The Evolution Compact has a removable baffle (the black rubber part that keeps the food from splattering out of the disposal) for easy cleaning. I am hopeful that being able to remove and clean the underside of the baffle will eliminate the odor issues I had with the Badger 900. I know it will be much safer to clean as I will no longer need to stick my hand in the disposal to clean it.
