Hi, this is Jerica from InSinkErator® Customer Service. Answer:
Batch feed means that that, unlike a continuous feed unit that is controlled by a switch on the wall and, which can be fed garbage continously while it runs, a batch feed unit must have the unit's stopper pulled out of the drain opening before putting the garbage in, with the stopper then put back into place to turn the unit on.

Hello and thank you for your question. Batch feed disposers function exactly like continuous feed disposers, the difference is in how you turn them on. Hi Sally - If you are wondering about the sink hole drain standard sink hole drains are 3-1/2" in diameter (unless you have a custom sink), with this information I can advise that the Cover Control will fit a 3-1/2" size drain hole. Hope this information is helpful.

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Great, quiet & no switch! However, had to replace cover/lid twice since Feb 2007 Great to get rid of electrical switch, quiet, & works great! Replacement coverlids are not cheap. Only problem has been that cover/lid has worn out twice since original install, Feb 2007. First cover/lid needed replacing in Feb 2011. Second cover/lid needed replacing May 2012. So far Emerson has replaced (and shipped) both new lid(s) at no cost. 1st customer rep happily volunteered to shipping new lid. 2nd time customer rep told us that lid was NOT covered by warranty. However, after putting us on hold she said they would replace. Save receipt and/or register when purchase, otherwise Emerson will go off manufacture date for 7 year warranty. May 15, 2012
Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by excellent, save the switch When I first turned this on, I wasn't sure it was working - it was so quiet! It grinds very well, but hey, it's an Insinkerator! What I would change about it is the magnetic activation to turn it on. If you need to use the disposal for many things, you first have to put the stuff in, turn on the water, then use the reversible switch (one side lets the water run through). You then have to turn it off to put something else into it. The only benefit I can see of this is if you have many utensils in the sink when you turn it on. Other than that, I'd have chosen a model without the cover. If it weren't for this, I'd top rate this for a disposal. January 3, 2007
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Evolution Cover Control Garbage Disposal We purchsed this disposal a couple weeks ago due to our old disposal would not grind up water, it was so bad. I ordered it on line, received exactly to the day the website said it would get here and my husband installed it the following Saturday. No hassles, no skinned knuckles, not even any temper trantums. All the pieces were in the box to install the product, didn't take any time at all and it was in and working. It was so quiet a unit that the first time we turned it on my husband swore it wasn't working! It grinds anything you put down it and not having to turn on a wall switch is a great feature. Love the stopper to turn it on. Great disposal and ordering on line was a dream! Thank you Home Depot!! November 16, 2010
Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by This product has one major flaw This updated version of the Evolution Pro Cover Control has a major flaw that its previous version did not have. There is no baffle to block items such as utensils from going down the drain -- instead there is a huge open hole. Your choices are to either live with the huge hole and lose things down there or leave the magnetic stopper in all the time and nothing can go down there. You can install a baffle but you would need to take it out every time you want to put the stopper in to run the disposal. The unit is certainly very quiet and easy to install but the above problem makes me regret the purchase. Why did they change this? April 3, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by If replacing an insinkerator unit, it easily mounts to existing mount in sink I am not the handiest person,so this is more an installation review. Since I was replacing an existing insinkerator unit, I could use the existing mount. This made the job simpler. I wish I had bought the new one before removing the old one, so I would have had the wrenchette to remove the old disposal. The directions were good at telling you how to remove it. The swap out of the electrical wire was straight forward too. Very clear directions. GREAT TIP FROM OTHER REVIEWER ABOUT REMOVING THE PLUMBERS PUTTY FROM OUTSIDE OF RING, THANKS! Unit is extremely quiet. March 10, 2012
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Fantastic product and customer service Just renovated our kitchen we removed our 16yr old 333 insinkerator which still worked. I might add I lost the tool to the old one a few years ago and called and a new one was at my door the next day no charge. The new kitchen has two sinks in different areas so now I have two. The above cover control and the 1hp evolution. I am a chef and will say I wouldn't consider any other brand. Insinkerator really stands behind their product which is superior in both quality and functionality. Happy Customer Jane Chef/owner Culinaryhuntergatherer.com April 5, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Very quiet disposal unit. I prefer batch feed disposals like this one because they are safer to use and there isn't a wall or countertop switch required. I've been in a situation where I was about to reach down to remove a spoon from an old switched disposer and my wife accidentally flipped the switch instead of the light switch...spoon was toast...luckily my hand wasn't in there yet! This disposer uses a magnet in the stopper to switch on the disposer. This is a lot more convenient as well. Plus, after we had this installed we couldn't believe how quiet it runs! At first we weren't sure it was working. I had to open the cabinet to hear it. It does get louder depending on what you are grinding, but I am very happy with this product. More expensive than basic continuous feed disposers, but worth it due to safety and concvenience. August 22, 2013
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Worthless, can't even manage Water disposal This was installed less than 30 days ago in my home and has trouble disposing of everything from limp basil to chopped up lemon. Water sits in the bottom after one removes the magnetic operator. Everything beings to ferment and smell up the kitchen. Truly disgusting. Also, no baffle, so you stare into the large hole of rotting food if you remove the stopper so your kids can't reach it. I'm sorry we purchased it and had it installed. April 25, 2016
