Why would the cold side be needed if most refrigerators have cold filtered water. Instant hot makes sense, cold does not

Hi, this is Jerica from InSinkErator® Customer Service. Lead contaminant levels of our hot water dispensers are basically non-detectable and should not be a concern for you or your family. As you may know, the Environmental Protection Agency's (EPA) maximum allowable lead contamination of water is 15 parts per billion (ppb) and we are well below that. I have put a drop of oil at the pivot point at the base of the handle whenever it starts squeaking or groaning. I don't believe they are serviceable, but this has worked great.

My faucet broke - the cool water lever cannot be raised from the down or "on" position. I have an older model tank & filtration system: SST-FLTR; is this faucet compatible with those parts?

Rated 4.2 out of 5 by 119 reviewers.
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Great product this faucet works great. We had to replace our old cold/hot water dispenser and the new one sleeker and the water comes out very easy. Be cautious with the hot water though, it is very hot. September 1, 2015
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Heater is very good. Faucet not so much Water heater has lasted over 10 years. The faucet still works ok but the tube connecting the heater to the faucet is poorly engineered. It is made of soft neoprene rubber and kinks often resulting in a leak, I have cut the leak out and reattached the hose to the tank so many times that the last time there was barely enough tube to reach the tank fitting. It has now ruptured and will no longer reach the tank. The only way to replace the hose is to buy a new faucet and install it for a total of about $500. Was this a planned failure? That tubing is only rated to less than 150 degree F and not to the 200 degree water the heater dispenses. August 12, 2016
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by "0" stars Had an original and replacement, both of which were defective, leaking so much at installation, that i never got to use the product.. Gave up and ordered InSinkerater December 10, 2014
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Can't fix it, have to replace it. Product was a reasonably easy out with the old broken one and in with the new one. My issue is that the inside of the old unit was sealed so I couldn't fix the cracked plastic part. Had to replace the whole unit (big $$$) when it looked like it a simple fix. December 16, 2015
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Satisfied Easy install if you have experience. Great product and fast shipping. October 13, 2015
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by works well and easy to install The product was easy to fined on the Home Depot web site. Ording was easy and I was pleased with the short time it took to ship. This was a replacement for one that I had installed seventeen years ago. It was easy to remove the old one and the new one went in without a problem. Water connections are quick and foolproof. Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Great product at a reasonable price! I really love having the filtered cold water & filtered Instant Hot water always at the ready, and this product makes it happen with the required companion InSinkEratorHot Water Tank and Filtration System. I'm glad I bought it and love using it several times a day! P.S. I can't comment on durability as I just got this about a month ago. February 16, 2015
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Hot stuff ! The hot water IS instantly HOT. I use this dispenser all the time, hot water for a single cup of drip coffee or brewed tea; to wash a dish; get a head start for boiling water for pasta, steaming veggies; you name it. The cool water dispenser is great for a glass of filtered water to drink or use for cooking - chlorine taste gone and even the dogs like the water better! This will pay for itself in not buying bottled water and not having to recycle all the plastic or glass bottles. I think I should get a tax credit! September 26, 2010
