Need to know if a new line has to be installed or if you can plug it into any outlet.
Asked by: Skeeks
No. Just plugged into an outlet that was set up for my garbage disposal under the sink

does the hot water faucet have any child proofing?

for e.g. any button to press plus move the lever or something that will prevent any accidental turning on of the faucet and burns?
Asked by: AvidShopper
Normally, they do not. The position at the back of the sink makes it difficult for a small child to reach and all of the levers that turn on the flow of water are spring loaded to close when your hand is removed (unlike the valves on the sink faucets). If a child were to accidentally press the hot water valve and receive a scald, the flow would stop as soon as s/he let go of the valve - the likely result would be a first degree (red skin) or second degree (blisters) burn and a more severe burn would be unlikely unless the valve were somehow held in the "ON" position. Not absolutely impossible, but highly unlikely.

Is it possible to mount this dispenser into a "4 hole" drop-in sink (ie. in lieu of where the soap dispenser would go)?

Other 3 holes in drop-in sink being used main water faucet with cover plate.
Asked by: aekflower
Yes, the tap can be mounted in any standard sink or counter top hole. A soap dispenser or sprayer hold works nicely (we've gone to a faucet where the spout pulls out and also functions as a sprayer, makeing the hole available.

Customer Reviews

Involve Single-Handle Instant Hot Water Dispenser System in Satin Nickel is rated 4.4 out of 5 by 293.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Product very easy to use This product is a great addition to the kitchen. It is our second unit. We just had our kitchen remodeled and decided to update the Hot Shot to satin nickel to match the faucet. We are very glad we did as it matches the faucet and fixtures perfect. The old unit would not have fit anyways because the sleeve wasn't long enough to go through the new counter material. Having boiling water instantly is a big bonus whether you want a cup of hot tea or need to fill up a pot and instantly have boiling water ready to go. It is the perfect addition to our beautiful new kitchen.

This is the third Hot Water Dispenser of this brand and model I have installed in the 24 years since I built my house and I am pleased with the performance of the product. I have very hard water at my home and it destroys dishwashers and the like yet these little handy units seem to last about 12 years before needing to be replaced. So, I am pleased.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from very nice product We were replacing an older white plastic hot water dispenser (sort of clunky design) and we are very happy with the sleek design that is easy to use and doesn't get in the way of using the sink for other purposes. Love it!

This product features a thick brass stem that's not shown nor does any website provide its specifications, but it turns out that it's not long enough to reach below my standard-thickness granite kitchen counter without the use of an included plastic extender -- but the extender widens the stem beyond the diameter of the sprayer hole. So, the bottom line is they didn't make a product that would fit a standard-depth sprayer-sized hole -- and neither the Insinkerator carton or website bothered to warn us about its limitations, resulting in customer frustration and lost time. Other similar products of theirs don't feature the same brass stem.

I am replacing the identical unit that I installed in 2009, so it lasted 8 years. I am replacing it because it first kept tripping the counter top GFI and then finally the GFI wouldn't even reset with the unit plugged in. However the three star review is because for some reason (probably to save 5 cents) they shortened the copper fill line on the new unit by about 6 inches which now does not reach my fill valve. So now I have to go back to the store and figure out how to extend a 1/4'' copper line with compression fittings which are leak prone to begin with. There's no good reason to use compression fittings anywhere in my opinion. Licensed Contractor.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from we do not want to without this unit, it is so convient to get a quick cup to qt. hot water, rince a dish, warm a cild coffee cup, etc We have purchased perhaps 4 to 6 units over last 25 years, early ones had steel tank, then the norm seemed to be stainless steel tank which lasts much much longer. We simply need to replace after 4-6 years due to use. Need a small amt. of warm water, take some cold and warm with the hot tap, not long wait for the pipe from 40 gal. water heater to discharge in sink before hot arrives from water heater. We continue to like these units. Heavy minerals in home water can accumulate which will colect in tank, having a water softner that removes minerals helps with this. Buy again, YES. Had once purchased a slightly simpler unit but came back to this Insinkerator brand.

I purchased this product to replace a similar insinkerator unit that failed (tripping the circuit breaker) after 4 years of use. The unit was relatively easy to install, although it did not come with the necessary compression fitting for the water-supply line (I salvaged the old compression ring... A bad Idea I know, but holding OK so far). Another issue was that the mounting system did not adapt to the existing hole in our countertop so I had to modify the mounting sleeve. I can't comment on the unit's durability, but I have had to set it at a bit lower temperature than the previous unit to prevent spitting (and it still spits a little after it dispenses more than two cups of hot water).
