Customer Questions & Answers

Does this type of dispenser require a dedicated circuit?

Need to know if a new line has to be installed or if you can plug it into any outlet.
Asked by: Skeeks
No. Just plugged into an outlet that was set up for my garbage disposal under the sink

does the hot water faucet have any child proofing?

for e.g. any button to press plus move the lever or something that will prevent any accidental turning on of the faucet and burns?
Asked by: AvidShopper
Normally, they do not. The position at the back of the sink makes it difficult for a small child to reach and all of the levers that turn on the flow of water are spring loaded to close when your hand is removed (unlike the valves on the sink faucets). If a child were to accidentally press the hot water valve and receive a scald, the flow would stop as soon as s/he let go of the valve - the likely result would be a first degree (red skin) or second degree (blisters) burn and a more severe burn would be unlikely unless the valve were somehow held in the "ON" position. Not absolutely impossible, but highly unlikely.

Is it possible to mount this dispenser into a "4 hole" drop-in sink (ie. in lieu of where the soap dispenser would go)?

Other 3 holes in drop-in sink being used main water faucet with cover plate.
Asked by: aekflower
Yes, the tap can be mounted in any standard sink or counter top hole. A soap dispenser or sprayer hold works nicely (we've gone to a faucet where the spout pulls out and also functions as a sprayer, makeing the hole available.

My spigot is loose. How do I tighten it?

NOT the actual unit onto the counter. I know how to tighten that. The spigot spins in the unit. I imagine there is a tightening screw that keeps it straight. Where is it? I can't find it.
Asked by: Paula
get some plumbers putty from home depot. make about a half inch snake about 3 inches long (like kids do with playdoo) put the snake around the faucet threads right where the faucet will meet the sink. tighten it down with the nut below the sink. wipe away any putty that squeezes out.

It was easy to install once I got everything moved out of the way. Not really InSinkErator's fault but I had plumbing pipes in the way. Where we mounted the dispenser and the short length of the supplied tubing would not let the under counter heater be mounted without lengthening the tubing (witch the instructions tell you not to do). Hint to other installers.... Make sure you have room to mount the heating unit before you have the dispenser hole drilled in your new $4000 granite counter top. The dispenser comes with about 18" of tubing and electrical cord that dictates where you mount the heating unit.

The quality of our water, even with the filter, makes it last about 3 years with everyday use. This is our third one in 10 years but works great and if you buy the same model, the hookup is effortless. No plumber required after the initial install.

This product features a thick brass stem that's not shown nor does any website provide its specifications, but it turns out that it's not long enough to reach below my standard-thickness granite kitchen counter without the use of an included plastic extender -- but the extender widens the stem beyond the diameter of the sprayer hole. So, the bottom line is they didn't make a product that would fit a standard-depth sprayer-sized hole -- and neither the Insinkerator carton or website bothered to warn us about its limitations, resulting in customer frustration and lost time. Other similar products of theirs don't feature the same brass stem.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Replacement Easy - with some exceptions I needed to replace the tank on an 11-year old Insinkerator Hot Water Dispenser. Turns out it IS MUCH less expensive to buy the head and tank together than to buy just the tank. That is what I did. The replacement was easy enough to install EXCEPT: -- the product did not come with a necessary compression fitting to connect to the water supply. Why not? -- It appears that there should have been a washer to between the dispenser head and the countertop, but there was nothing like it in the sealed package I purchased. Product works well and I expect the new stainless water tank to last a long time. However, a couple small things would have made the installation that much easier.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Love the concept but device stopped heating water on the 87th day after purchase Great concept and loved the instant hot water for the first 87 days after purchase. On the 87th day after it was purchased it stopped heating the water. Luckily I saved the purchase receipt and was able to exchange it at the store where I purchased it from. I fear it will stop working properly at some point after it goes out of warranty. I hope we haven't wasted our money on a product that's just going to die. However, as long as it works properly we love the instant hot water. We have our fingers crossed and are hoping for the best.

The first one I got stopped heating the water in less than 4 months. the warranty replacement didn't last any longer. the failure is instant, there is no warning. It works for a while, but abruptly stops delivering hot water. There is no decline in performance, it's all or nothing. Nothing happens in a few months. If you are not a DIY, then it is too expensive to keep replacing these. If you are a DIY, what is your time worth to you? How many times do you want to deal with it? Twice with less than 8 months of life was my limit.
