Answer:
It is an air switch you plug into a existing outlet, then you need to install a plug on the garbage disposal and plug it in to the switch. There is an air hose which you install between the off/on plunger and the switch then you just push on and push off. Plus there is three buttons to choose from, white, black and stainless steel.

Answer:
As long as you can plug your disposal into an outlet, this module simply plugs into the outlet and then the disposal cord plugs into the module. The air line from the switch attaches to the module and you are done!

Yes it can, as long as you attach a grounded plug in cord to the disposal unit. Also don't forget to plug the air switch into a GFI controled circuit for safety.

Hi Bill - Thank you for your question. George is correct, the SinkTop Switch will work with any disposer. I can also advise that this product is tested with our disposers and it is a fantastic alternative than the wall switch. Good luck with your project!

Answer:
Not sure if it would still work. The button at the sink just pushes air through a thin hose, which actuates the switch itself right at the disposer. If you make the hose longer you might not have enough pressure to actuate.

However, due to spacial constraints behind the sink in the back of an existing Corian counter top, I need to install the switch in the face of the vertical center wood stile near the top of the two-door sink base containing the disposal. I can bore a 1 1/4 inch diameter hole in the wood stile to contain the switch, but I need to know the depth of the switch and clearance required for the air hose.

Ok, this is an air switch. Depth is aprox. 3" due to the switch and the radius of the hose and the bend of the hose. It's a thick hose. It might squish some, but it's a thick hose.

The depth of the switch might cause issues if your sink is very close to the front of the base, but if you have one of those bases that have the two fake drawer fronts, the stile is most likely low enough to accommodate the switch. I think the most trouble you'd have with your method of installation would be that you'd need to find a way to elevate the air hose so it did not just hang down underneath your sink and get hung up on things. I can't get absolutely exact measurements since mine's installed and it's tough getting up behind there, but from my tape measure and me laying on the bottom in there, checking the hose for kinking, I'd guess you'd need at LEAST a minimum of 3.5 to 4 inches from the inner surface of wherever you mount this to avoid kinking the hose and rendering it inoperative.

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Simplifies installation by eliminating electral Renovating the kitchen. Was going to run electrical to a wall switch but came across this. Yeah, it's a lot more money than a simple switch, but it's really convenient and the push button can be located on the counter, which is cool and modern. The assembly plugs into a GFCI protected outlet under the sink and you just plug your disposal into that. This does, of course, mean you that you need a disposal with a plug. Some are hard-wired. The push button uses air from the press to toggle the box and it works well. No misfires for me. June 5, 2016
Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by Great idea, not so great quality I installed the kit two years ago and it was pretty straight forward. The most difficult part was screwing the nut onto the bottom of the button assembly under the sink. The kit comes with a white, a nickel and a chrome button so that you can match the finish to your faucet. I used the chrome button. Within two months, the chrome ring had separated from the plastic button assembly and fallen off. The ring is glued on, not mechanically attached. I used epoxy to reattach it and it hasn't fallen off again yet. Recently, the switch unit stopped working reliably. It now turns the garbage disposal on but not always off, requiring a trip under the sink to unplug it. Disappointing. February 16, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Excellent value! Best Buy for an island sink. Very conveniently located right by the sink, no need to reach out for the switch to turn the garbage disposal on! It's right in front of you. You won't even notice there is a switch on the counter. The unit comes with three different color choices. January 6, 2016
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Adding a Garbage disposal where none exists I am adding this to home that has no Disposal today. It was easy to install and I used an "air" button to put above the sink to make the on/off switch easily accessible. June 28, 2016
