When we moved into our new home, the switch for the disposer was under the sink inside of a cabinet. To run the disposal, you had to open the cabinet door, each under the sink, find the switch, and turn it on, then repeat the process to turn it off. The Insinkerator "sinktop" switch dual outlet is an easy solution to this inconvenience, but Insinkerator is missing a bet, because this can be a cabinet switch as well as a sink top switch.
Since we had granite countertops, drilling a hole to accommodate the sink top switch would be an expensive proposition. Instead, I installed the switch on the facing of the cabinet below the sink so that it is accessible while standing in front of the sink. All this required was that I drill a 1-1/4" hole in the wood cabinet, so that I could install the switch horizontally, instead of vertically. The rest of the installation was pretty much as described in the instructions. I did leave out the o-ring and metal washer, so that the switch fits flush against the cabinet facing. I also ordered the optional oil-rubbed bronze switch to match the rest of the kitchen décor.
The remainder of the installation is as simple as mounting the power unit with two screws under the sink, switching the disposer plug from the outlet to the power unit, connecting the tubing between the switch and the power unit (tube plugs in, no fittings required), and plugging in the power unit. Worked like a charm the first time.
I highly recommend this switch to anyone who has a wall or undercounter switch and wants the convenience of a switch that is readily accessible without opening cabinets and / or reaching for an inconveniently located switch.

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Gobop This product is a wonderful solution for non-hard wired switched plugs!
This unit operates with an air switch to operate its outlets - It comes with enough tubing to install the switch button in any convenient place close to the sink and disposer! It comes with two button styles with other options for purchase online! I'm so glad I made this purchase!

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by irunonbatteries This product is absolutely THE BEST!
The used manufactured home we were having remodeled has a "less than normal depth to the counter" plus the only place our handyman could put a regular switch was under the sink; so I purchased this item...and after not wanting to put it in...our handyman swore that this is the best and easiest to install solution to this problem. We have told all our new neighbors about this switch. I would almost never use my disposal, if I had to open a cupboard and reach under the sink; this switch has solved our problem! Do not hesitate to purchase it - it is worth every penny.

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by charliebiker Great alternative to adding a wall switch
Only issue I had was with the hole for the push button. I used a hole saw to cut the sink deck, counter top, in doing so the hole turned out larger than expected. Fortunately the push button bevel ring covered the hole well enough to make it look good. Otherwise, the installation went as expected. I tapped the existing A/C feed to the dishwasher and added a duplex receptacle under the counter to power the switch and new garbage disposal. The button is still working great after two months of use.

This really solves the problem of where to put the disposal switch in an island. The connection is totally insulated making it safe also.

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Chazz Solves the problem of an under sink water heater
With one 20 amp electrical outlet under the kitchen sink I was able to power both my garbage disposal and my newly installed under sink water heater. The unit automatically disconnects the second connection used for the water heater when the garbage disposal is turned on and then reconnects when the disposal is turned off. This is a well designed, robust, excellent product.
