Yes. It is just a "switch." It uses an air tube so that it is electrically isolated from the electrical outlet. Answer:
As long as you can plug your disposal into an outlet, this module simply plugs into the outlet and then the disposal cord plugs into the module. The air line from the switch attaches to the module and you are done!

Answer:
Yes it can, as long as you attach a grounded plug in cord to the disposal unit. Also don't forget to plug the air switch into a GFI controled circuit for safety.

Hi Bill - Thank you for your question. George is correct, the SinkTop Switch will work with any disposer. I can also advise that this product is tested with our disposers and it is a fantastic alternative than the wall switch. Good luck with your project!

I have purchased an Insinkerator Evolution Excel garbage disposal and desire to install an air switch to operate it.

However, due to spacial constraints behind the sink in the back of an existing Corian counter top, I need to install the switch in the face of the vertical center wood stile near the top of the two-door sink base containing the disposal. I can bore a 1 1/4 inch diameter hole in the wood stile to contain the switch, but I need to know the depth of the switch and clearance required for the air hose.

Ok, this is an air switch. Depth is aprox. 3" due to the switch and the radius of the hose and the bend of the hose. It's a thick hose. It might squish some, but it's a thick hose.

The switch is about 2 inches in overall length. It has a mounting nut like you'd see on the faucet assembly. Remove it and insert the switch into the hole and screw the nut back on. The switch itself is about 1.5 inches in diameter including the ring around the button. I'm think it's about an inch in diameter at the nut, so it's probable it would fit in the 1.25 inch hole. The depth of the switch might cause issues if your sink is very close to the front of the base, but if you have one of those bases that have the two fake drawer fronts, the stile is most likely low enough to accommodate the switch. I think the most trouble you'd have with your method of installation would be that you'd need to find a way to elevate the air hose so it did not just hang down underneath your sink and get hung up on things. Answer:
I can't get absolutely exact measurements since mine's installed and it's tough getting up behind there, but from my tape measure and me laying on the bottom in there, checking the hose for kinking, I'd guess you'd need at LEAST a minimum of 3.5 to 4 inches from the inner surface of wherever you mount this to avoid kinking the hose and rendering it inoperative.

You get a chrome, brushed nickel, and white button with the switch. The switch, the tubing, and the base of the button are all black so maybe that's why the listed it as black. The button however is the only part you see when it is installed. If chrome is what you need, it's included.

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by It works I like this as a switch. It isolates the 120V AC power from the user with air. I saw other people asking questions about the color because it states black. It includes Chrome, White and Brushed Nickel button finishes. It's a standard hole. It stays on as long as your push it. And, yes, it plugs into a "hot" plug. The one thing I did probably different than 99% of the people is I saved $12.00 by using the cord from an old computer and cut the end off, stripped it and used it in place of their "kit". Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Excellent value! Best Buy for an island sink. Very conveniently located right by the sink, no need to reach out for the switch to turn the garbage disposal on! It's right in front of you. You won't even notice there is a switch on the counter. The unit comes with three different color choices. January 6, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by This is an important thing to have. This is a must have for your kitchen. It isolates the user from the Mains power of 120VAC. It is a simple air switch that insulates against shock! May 12, 2016

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Comes in Handy This little gadget is great. I had not previously had a disposal so I did not have a switch for one, which I realized after I bought the disposal. Someone who works at HD told me about the switch. It mounted right to my sink top and plugs into the outlet underneath. Just press the button to turn the disposal on and off. Pretty handy.
