Customer Questions & Answers

What is the cfm required?

Asked by: wondering
When it's not listed on the spec sheet, they are usually trying to hide something. Dewalt list it in their specs. 650lbs @5.9cfm. How hard is it to list the cfm required next to the torque?

compressor size needed

What size air compressor is needed to run this impact gun at full torque?
Asked by: Poolycoo
If an air tool has suggested operation of 90 psi, IMO, your compressor should put out at least 110 psi with a regulator to operate at a 100% in burst. That has been a life time experience with me. Everybody has a different answer that works for them, but you should never use an air tool under the factory recommended air pressure. Most half inch impact guns call for 90 psi!!!

Is 231G really the model #? This does not exist on Ingersoll Rand's web site. I was looking for a 231C to replace one that was stolen. Is the -G a cheapened version of the -C? I'm suspicious of this.

1/2 in. Drive Air Impactool is rated 4.8 out of 5 by 10.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from I used to work at an auto dealership as a... I used to work at an auto dealership as a detailer and would occasionally borrow the mechanics impact drivers to rotate the tires on my own vehicle. I am sure these tools I borrowed were high-dollar items since everything they owned were mostly Snap-On. Anyway, this impact driver paired with Harbor Freight's Pro deep well impact sockets combined with the Husky 10-gallon compressor effortlessly removed the lug nuts from my Nissan. In addition to the above, I purchased the Husky HF(high-flow) connectors to give the gun a little extra oomph. I think highly of this impact gun even though with the limited use I have with compared right up there with the mechanics tools I have used in the past. The fit and finish are excellent, but the unit seems a bit front heavy but otherwise excellent unit.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Didn't hold up very well I purchased this from my local Snap-On dealer. He recommended it over his own Snap-On model. That was in 1972. My only disappointment came 3 days ago. The trigger will not shut off the tool completely. It looks like I'll have to rebuild this gun after only 41 years of service. I had hoped that it would last until I could no longer use it. I have never done anything to this impact gun (other than oiling it and replacing the air fitting several times) since I purchased it. If everything lasted this long, none of us would have jobs. The only thing I have had longer than this impact gun that is still working is my wife.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from powerfull tool I'm restoring an old truck and have all kinds of rusted bolts and nuts. This one breaks them loose. Make sure you have at least a 3/8" air hose, the 1/4" will not do it. I actually plan on changing over to 1/2" to let my tools breathe.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Exellent job well done I have only owned it a short time. The gun is well crafted and has a nice finish. So far has worked well. I hope it lasts as long as my Snap On 1/2 inch drive. For the price it is a good deal so far. Forward and reverse button location not the best have to reach to depress. That is why 4 star.
