is it more difficult or easier to install planks that are wider or narrower. Isn't a 11"wide plank too tough for a diy'er.

Plank size makes no difference. Personal skill level and acceptance of flaws are the important factor.

SInce the only cuts you'll need to make are on the ends/edges where they will be covered by quarter-round, these cuts do not have to be absolutely 100.000% perfect. A regular electric jigsaw with a fine tooth blade will slice right through laminate no problem. Just track right along your trim line (made with a sharpie or grease pencil) and you'll be fine.

If you have a table saw, that will work as well and even faster. I just remeved the fence, lined it up and eyeballed the cut along the trim line. For long rip cuts (parallel to walls, etc), pop the fence back into place and let 'er ride. Read Less

Answer:
You are correct, 11 inch wide planks would be very hard for a diy'er to cut.
However they make for a more attractive looking floor.

The sample should be correct or open a box in the store and see the true color. All photos and computers will show a tint change so the color on line is never correct. Did you purchase this flooring? I am thinking about it myself. Thank you

Answer:
Thank you for your question about the Rio Brazilian Walnut. Both are actually correct. The floor shot shows an overall view of what the finished product looks like. The sample is a close shot so that you can see wood grain. It is from a lighter section of the planks. Thank you for your interest in our product.

Answer:
No, we do not recommend steam mops for maintenance. Ideally, maintenance should consist of regular sweeping/vacuuming along with the occasional use of a laminate floor cleaner. We recommend Bona Stone, Tile and Laminate Cleaner.

Answer:
Hey MGIII,
As the other user stated, you can install laminate flooring over most existing floors, provided they are level, secured to the subfloor, and clean.
If they aren't, you'll need to repair those affected areas so that that the new laminate planks can successfully be installed over it.
Failure to do so can lead to the planks shifting and coming up.

Answer:
In the den, we installed it directly over a plywood subfloor; in the dining room, we installed over a worn hardwood floor; and in the living room, we installed it over a vinyl tile floor. In each case, it turned out just fine.

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Great product Easy to install! This product is easy to install. My husband and I installed a 17x16 room in 6 hours with cuts and trim. Directions easy to read and follow. Product looks great. Buying more for another room. April 24, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Good flooring for the price, once you ge tthe hang of it It takes a few lines to get the hang of clicking this stuff together to get a tight link, but it looks pretty decent once you get it together. It looks fine, especially for the price. Make sure you get an installation kit (tapping block, bar, etc) - it'll make the job much easier! February 9, 2015
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Excellent product! I had to special order this laminate online I took a chance but figured if I didn't like it I would exchange. After receiving the product it was much better then the photos HD posted. I have to say one plank is amazing but all as one, all I can say is wow and I'm a picky person so I knew it was the right choice. The flooring is contemporary, it is a brownish medium auburn multicolor laminate, it grounded my great room and really changed the look of the layout of my home. It was installed in 4 rooms the pictures are of the great room. I wanted to show as many photos as possible to help people with this laminate flooring. Also I recommend using a 3 in 1 underlayment don't cheap out on this it will really cushion the floor and help with sound in the room I have two story great room... trust me on this. Defective and i should return it except i laid them down. VERY POORLY constructed for laminate flooring. Very sorry i bought so many February 10, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Looks great! This flooring was super easy to install (and it was my first time doing something like this), looks great, and has held up well to the cat's claws, dog's nails, and toddler's spills. The wide planks really sped up the installation. June 12, 2014
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Terrific stuff I'm a retired custom home builder of 20+ years and I have installed enough flooring of all types that, if laid end to end to end, would probably circle the globe. I must say that quality laminate is the way to go and this stuff is exactly that! It is by far the best looking and seems to be the most durable I've installed in a long while. Bought this for MY house back in Dec 2013 and waited to get an idea of how it was going to hold up before I wrote this review. It's been down about 6 months so far and has taken a lot and I mean a LOT of abuse as I'm still in the process of remodeling. Oh shut up!! It's MY house , I can take as long as I want!! Anyway I see others have said it looks high end and I certainly agree! Only issue I had before purchase was the difference between Brazilian Walnut and Brazilian Rosewood because the online pics were exactly the same,,no one could answer that and I even called the mfgr. assuming my suspicions were correct and there was/is no difference except price..go with the cheaper one which is exactly what I did ..no regrets. It's a class act from start to finish! July 16, 2014
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by i like how each piece is wide and easy to install too! the value of this product is great! looks good too in my house! December 17, 2013
Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by Don't Buy This !! I don't know who is writing these reviews but they are not wholly true, that's for sure. The locking mechanisms don't work properly and are too thin. My brother in-law is a bona fide carpenter/builder and laid out many types of floors but could not make these panels work properly. We've spent a day and a half laying these out and still aren't done. After laying out 2/3's of the flooring, the seams keep coming partially apart when you walk on them and you have to keep tapping them back We even thought about gluing the flooring panels together. Now I'm stuck with a floor that I hate. This is what happens when you buy a product that you can't test (online sale only). I bought this product based upon all those "great reviews". Just goes to show you that you can't believe what you read. I personally believe that these companies make up these reviews to sell this stuff. September 22, 2014
