Customer Questions & Answers

What is the work surface height (not counting the pegboard)? Is the pegboard removable?

Asked by: Jeff
The work surface height is 36-1/2 in. It is also 23-5/8 deep x 44-3/4 wide (NOT the 48-in. as described) and 1-5/16 in. thick. The metal pegboard and frame are all one piece that inserts down into two slots on the base. The pegboard section is not required for the table to fold up and down properly, once it is secured to a wall. So, yes, it is "removable" if you only want to use the workbench portion.

Since this table folds. Can you install a vice to the wooden part of the bench? Will it keep it from folding/collapsing?
Asked by: Shane
Depending on how much of the mounting hardware sticks out from the bottom, it could interfere with the folding support mechanism. If it's a clamp-on vice, you could remove it before collapsing the table.

I bought this work bench which came with very little instruction. The table part came together easily, but there is no discernible way to attach the pegboard and keep it in place. Can anyone shed some light on this?
Asked by: Alice
There is a "handlebar" in the back that folds up for attaching the base to a wall. On that handlebar, there are two holes to slide the pegboard bars down into.

does this mount to the wall? when folded how far does it protrude?

Asked by: rwrod
There are three slits in the base and the pegboard for securing each to the wall, and are spaced 16 inches apart. Six wood screws and washers are included. The table collapses to 7-7/8 inches (20cm).

The "Mighti Instant Workbench" is 44-3/4 inches wide. The wooden table top is 22-5/8 in. deep and 1-5/16 in. thick. The work surface height is 36-1/2 in. Assembled height is 62-1/4 in. When folded down, it stands out 7-7/8 in. from the wall. (And just FYI, the shipping box measures 46 x 46 x 7 in.) The metal pegboard is 23-1/2 in. tall and the peg holes are 1/4-in. (Mine was dented during shipment, but still usable.) There's a 4-in. utility overhang for adding a light fixture, and 2 insulated holes on either side to accommodate wires. The lower work table section comes completely preassembled and it's on rollers. I guess if you didn't attach it to a wall, you could collapse it to stow away somewhere, then pop it open when you needed a temporary work surface. (The release pedal at the bottom sticks out more than 3 inches. I haven't whacked my ankle on it yet, but it's only a matter of time...) The slits for screwing it to the wall are spaced at 16 inches. If your studs are different (as mine are) plan on needing a couple of additional boards to secure the whole thing. And I'd recommend using some high-quality wood screws because the six that came with mine were not. Once attached, it's very easy to open and close - not too heavy and feels sturdy. I find myself using it constantly during a variety of projects and chores. For the money, it certainly serves my needs. Don't expect it to serve as a heavy duty workbench, but it's handy for extra table space in a pinch. I'm giving it only 4 stars because of a few (in my opinion) design flaws, and the fact it was smaller than described here.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Most practical work bench out there I bought this work bench with the intention of having a strong sturdy surface to work on but space in my garage is limited. The best selling point on the Instant Bench was that the table part collapsed down flat against the wall so that both my cars could still easily fit and I had room to walk around. Greatest idea ever! Wish these were in stock!
