Been using Ecowood since it was called Lifetime Wood Treatment and only available in Canada. We manufacture Beepod beehives out of white pine. Some are six years old dipped in Ecowood.... untreated a hive was rotted in 2 years... the Ecowood Beepods are solid even today. I would never use anything else on any outdoor wood product. Ever. One treatment... Bee Safe... looks like aged oak... no checks, chips, cracks or rot.

The ECo Wood Treatment comes as a pack of powder which easily mixes with water. The product was easily applied to bee boxes with a brush. It should also easily be dipped or sprayed on. One coat coverage was great and even. It is important to agitate the product occasionally, per instructions, to keep the solids suspended in the water medium. I accomplished this by mixing the product in a recycled 1 gallon vinigar jug with lid and shaking for initial and later mixing. I poured small quantities into a recycled yogurt container from which I loaded my brush, shaking the product before each refill of the yogurt container. It goes on like water and, over a period of days begins to turn brown or gray (depending on the wood) as it weathers. It is too early to comment on it's value as a wood preservative. So far I am very well pleased with this product. This is especially true when one considers the labor and materials expense involved in priming and painting then a few years later scraping and repainting using other finishes.

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0Â by Garnergirl Love this product - non-toxic VOC free
The 5 gal. Eco wood treatment is very easy to mix, apply and dries quickly. I have not used it long enough to see how long it will help, but this is a great product for raised bed gardening if you are building your own beds. My parents recommended it to me. It has done very well at least 9-months. I like that it is non-toxic, VOC free since I will be growing food in these beds. I searched the internet, and there are not a lot of choices that are as affordable as this treatment. I will probably order more soon, but would love it if Home Depot would stock it locally -- I expect they could sell more - It took 10 days from my order for me to receive it.

Eco is a great solution to wood treatment. You can roll it, spray it, brush it. I am using it on rough-sawn siding. The main thing is to clear the chaff off the wood first so the eco can sink into the board. If you do happen to miss an area, you can go back over it later and it will "catch up" to the color change. My pine is turning to a chocolate brown over time and it looks terrific.
It's a great value per gallon of mix compared to stain. Easy clean up and quick.

I used this on my new barn over new cedar instead of using reclaimed barnwood siding. I've had a lot of comments on how cool it looks and I've been happy. Application was easy. Just make sure you use a sprayer with enough pressure. My cheap plastic one didn't work well so we used our metal one we use for sealing concrete driveways and it worked a lot better.
