Does this fit 4" PVC Sewer and Drain pipe which is different from 4" regular PVC pipe? If not, which connector or adapter could you use if any?

Example: I have looked at the manual and can't figure out what I did wrong.
Asked by: Wend
Thanks for your question. This item is not meant to fit 4" PVC sewer and drain pipe and we do not have any connectors that you would be able to use to do so.

Can this be easily fitted to regular 4-inch PVC pipe? And how would you recommend sealing such a connection?
Asked by: genkibrady
Thanks for your question. The end of the Flex Grate should fit into the 4" PVC pipe with no problem. If you feel you need to seal it, you could use caulk.

We would recommend Seamermate or caulk if you have concerns about leakage.

Can this product be reversed, to fit round downspout and square hole to drainage line?

Asked by: Sandy
Thanks for your question. While not the intended set up of this item, I would think that if the openings are compatible, it should be ok.

Flex Grate Downspout Filter is rated 3.9 out of 5 by 43.
Rated 2 out of 5 by from Buy something better I had some expensive ($45) downspout filters and thought that these might be a cheaper alternative. Don't waste your money. The work after a fashion (had to put a screen into it to keep out pine needles). The bendable tube was worthless (not long enough, doesn't reduce to anything by drain size material). I should have spent more and got something worthwhile.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great product but needs small redesign Great product to keep underground drain pipe free of leaves. BUT needs a small improvement which I made with a pocket knife. The lower edge of the deflector shoot is held in place with the outside frame. This creates a small dam which does prevent small leaves from fall out. By cutting away most of the lower edge, it allows leaves to fall freely out.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Good idea but didn't work I have my downspouts tied into an underground drain that got clogged with leaves and seedlings this past spring. It was very expensive to have RotoRooter come and snake out the line, so I thought this product would be the solution to that problem. The leaves and debris from the gutters should have been filtered before clogging up the line. HOWEVER, in a heavy rain, water just pours out the opening and ends up flooding the foundation of my house. Seemed like a good idea, but it didn't work.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Good product Easy to install needed to use fiberglass screen for added protection *note for screen- run the screen a little longer out the Shute, allowing screen to flow over the lip that catches water but allows debri to flow out. Also drilled hole in the side at a downward angle the size of my finger below grate. This allows me to remove and replace easier for winter when I remove to add a cup of driveway salt to keep from freezing solid every month.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Works Well if Installed Right This was installed at the bottom of a vertical 4-inch gutter, which runs into a horizontal and sloping straight drain pipe under the ground. The drain ends at a bubber. The downspout filter really doesn't filter much for me because we have gutters with a cover over them, and usually there is nothing to filter ... I just wanted to make sure I didn't clog up the underground pipe. The downspout transfers a large amount of water pretty well, but unless you adjust the connection during a heavy rain, much of the water will flow out of the downspout side opening instead of flowing down into the underground pipe. I bought it because it looked like it would work, and the price was right.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Works Great! Looks like a typical flexable downspout but is set up to throw the leaves and debris out and let the water go down the drain. I was a little skeptical at first but once we got a good hard rain it proved it's worth. The price is what makes it worthwhile!

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Good for some applications The produce is well made and fits very well both the large and small downspouts. I installed them on four downspouts. Because I have a lot of trouble with leaves and debris clogging my gutters, I thought I would install these and forgo the screens on the gutters. The leaves do wash down and most are washed out the opening but enough stick in there that a lot of water splashes out. They need to be cleaned out after every rain to keep them clear. I cut the lip off the bottom of one of them and the water actually runs out of that one so I don't advise doing that. Bottom line is they do work but if you are concerned about water leaking out around your foundation, they are probably not advisable.
