Can You drive over them?

This question is from StealthFlow Low Profile Downspout Extension

I need something to carry the water from a downspout on the up hill side of my driveway to the lawn. It's a distance of about 15 feet. This would traverse the driveway and we would have to drive over it or be able to move it easily, once or twice a day. I'd only need it in the Winter when the runoff from the downspout pours across the driveway and freezes at night.

Do you recommend this product as a solution to my problem?

Answer:
No. While the product is sturdy plastic, I can not see it holding up to that weight. If it is tunneled under your driveway its probably okay; but not just driving over it. The manufacturer may say otherwise; but I doubt it.

What if you brace either side of the downspout with 2x4s, then you can drive over the 2x4 and not damage the downspout.

Would not drive over this product with the weight of a vehicle, however, it would only take you seconds to move the product out of your way and a few seconds to reattach.

I think if you watch the little video that's online here at HD website is show 's it can withstand being run over by a SUV. The video is right where this product is. I think you can get a better idea to your question there. Hope this helps.

Answer:
Due to the material that the downspout extension is made of, no you cannot drive over it.
You'd need to either remove it when the car is being used, or do a more practical but more labor intensive option of burying it under the driveway.

Answer:
I installed it both ways around my home. Some spots with the elbow and another without. With the elbow left on, it snaps into place very securely using the ridges on the elbow, requiring no screws to be held in place. On a straight pipe it's probably wise to add a screw.

If the downspout is already pointed towards the street you will not need the elbow. Otherwise the elbow is needed.

Answer:
I have 2 that I use with the elbow. I looked up the product on the webpage since I do not have the packaging and I think you almost have to use the elbow. Downspouts are square (almost) and the extension connector end to take the water away from the house is a flattened oblong.

Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Leaky but serves the purpose I used this to run about 15' down a decent slope. No matter how I wiggled or pushed, there was significant leakage at every joint. It may or may not be an issue for your application. It was not a deal breaker for me. I needed the majority of the water to be redirected and it served that purpose. I did use some caulking to help curb the leaking. The connection to smaller sized downspots is awkward looking but again, serves the purpose. August 23, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Great water control Installed new gutters on the house and needed a way to move water away from the foundation. Product is priced reasonably and easy to install. August 27, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Down spout replacement The accordion part could be a little longer but overall this is a great buy for 10 bucks. I turn the blades off and drive the rider right over it when mowing, no more getting off and on again. August 16, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Good Purchase This extension fit on my downspout perfectly and works great. August 23, 2016
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by a waste of money This product did not connect well to my existing downspout and I needed more flexibility August 12, 2016
Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Will it work We have not had much rain at this point in time. Easy to put together. August 9, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Great downspout extension Thie Downspout extension is a very well built product and solves the problem of gushing water out of the downspout and gouging the landscaping. They install quickly and will rotate in any direction once fitted on the downspout. I wish they would have included a couple of screws to anchor the extension to the downspout. I also bought the downspout extensions which fit perfectly to the original Stealth-flow downspout and just clicks into place. The only thing I would add, is that there are no holes in the bottom of the extension or the original downspout extender. This, I think would add to mosquitoes breading in the ridges after a rain. I solved this problem by using a Dremal cutting tool to sliced slots in each of the ridges along the bottom so water would seep into the ground below. I also drilled a hole in each center support ridge so water would not collect there either. Both the downspout and the extensions are ruggedly built to withstand someone standing on them and should hold up well over time. Now I just need more wood chips to cover the extensions.
