Customer Questions & Answers

How will the app work for two Controllers?

I wanted to buy 2 of these controllers and install both of them over the same wifi network. How will the app work for both of these controllers?
Asked by: Gurpreet
You should be able to use "identifiers" that mark units as "individuals" to select different units via the mobile apps. But the last time I used the mobile apps they were a mess. But things "may" have changed. You can, though, connect to each one via their individual IP addresses that they use to connect to your local network through a web browser on any device that is on your local network. That's what I had to do. Not sure of your reason for using two of these, could be valve location, but they do make add-on adapters to increase the total number of zones, I think it is, to 48. Hope this helps.

Is the unit being sent recentl v1 or v2?

The vendor indicates there is now a v1 and v2 of this same IC-W1 controller. Can those who recently received it comment as to whether they received v1 or v2?
Asked by: ionizer
v2 is the current factory version. If you have a v1 they upgrade it for you for a small fee. You need v2 to running the current firmware.

Occasionally the router changes the IC's IP address and I have to manually change it in the app. I bought a new router for Christmas and the IC will not connect. I've spent hours working on the problem. The only way to get help from IC is to send an email. It took over 2 weeks to get a response giving me a case number and stating someone will contact me. It's been another week and still waiting. I would 100% recommend Not buying this due to extremely poor customer service.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from This thing is great! Installation was pretty easy. I bought an extra plastic box so I could install this outside, near my pool equipment, where my current controller was located. I just made note of the color of wires on my previous controller (I took a picture with my phone) and then took the current controller down and mounted the box in its place. Then I pulled the wires up into the box and connected the Caddy to the box. Then I just wired up the wires just like they were wired to my previous controller. Once I powered it up, I followed the instructions to set up the Caddy on my network. Connected to my network in a snap. I made note of the IP address my router gave it (displayed on the face of the Caddy). Used that address in Windows Explorer and BAM! The website for the Caddy was on my computer. I had all the zones named and my programs set up in about 20 minutes. I love this thing. I can even find it with my HTC One and start a program manually while I am in the front yard. I am very happy. I did manage to load the new version of the firmware, and that was a bit of a pain to complete, but that is my only issue. (Make sure when you install on the wall that you leave room for a USB drive to be plugged into the unit on the left. I mounted mine too close to the power plug.) The web interface is very easy to use. This thing is great!

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Unreliable. Probably will have to uninstall and return. I did everything to install this right, including many support ticket questions with the manufacturer. It worked fine for a while. Then I couldn't control the zones. It seemed like the programs I created were working, but now they stop without finishing. The tech guy admitted that the smartphone program has bugs. IF it worked reliably, which it does not, it would be a decent value. As other reviews point out, the controller box is made of way too much thin, fragile plastic. Probably will have to uninstall and return. What a sad waste of my time.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Terrible Customer Support I have installed numerous electronic and web based home and business devices and products. Although this product looks well made, I was unable to get this product installed on my network after numerous attempts and purchasing a new router. . Customer service from this company is via e-mail only. Response times from e-mail requests was 2-3 days, with limited value. Request for live (phone) support was denied.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Product is full of bugs and never works right. Support is just as bad. This is a horrible product. I have had this for last season and so far this season. The user interface is buggy and the support is awfull. This is the reply to my latest issues. Notice they didn't make any attempt to troubleshoot. Either this happens so much they just already know its a memory issue, or they just didn't want to give any effort at all. "Hi, The zone name corruption problem sounds like a hardware issue where the Flash memory area where the names go is defective. The only solution; if that is the issue; is to replace the unit. If the unit is under warranty you can send it to:"

Rated 4 out of 5 by from A good product, though it could be so much more. I hated my old sprinkler controller, for whatever reason every time spring came around, I had to re-learn how to work it, and even then, it was a bit of a black art. I picked up the IrrigationCaddy on a special offer from HD, and switch out my old unit for it. If you're just looking for an easier way to control your sprinkler, then this is it - installation was easy (though read on), and the web browser, while fairly basic, does the job. My issue is that it could do so much more. The photo on the packaging shows the app running on a tablet. Well, that's an option, if you want to pay another $3.99 for an app that get's an average of 2 starts. This is a premium system, so it's kinda cheesy to make another couple of bucks from an app, especially one so poorly reviewed. Secondly, although the installation is easy enough, it looks a little 'homemade'. The wire terminals are exposed, which means that achieving a tidy finish for the cables is very difficult. See my photo to see what I mean, that was the best I could do, after quite a bit of effort and another visit to HD. Finally, this thing is on-line, so why doesn't it watch the weather forecasts? The last thing I want is to water my lawn, then have it rain an hour later. This information is out there, and it's free, so I hope they build in this intelligence soon. It does hook up to a rain sensor, but we all know how well those things work, and they certainly can't forecast anything. So, in summary, it's good, and solid, but it's lacking the 'coolness' that something like a Nest thermostat has, for example.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Customer support is terrible! I will begin by saying that the produce itself is fine. I don't have issues with how it works. The customer service is terrible. This product is not ready for prime time. First of all, it constantly disconnects from wifi and then won't connect back up without going through the process multiple times. They don't offer a phone number to call for support - only email. Their response to email support is days or more. After trying for the past several months to make this work, I am going to a different product.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from What I expected Had old control center with no connections for rain / freeze sensor. Decided to replace with this wifi enabled control center. Easy to setup - super easy to program - tons of options and features - remote access nice. Nice to sit on the couch and program sprinkler system on the PC rather than standing in the garage and using 4 buttons to flip through millions of settings. With today's water shortages in North Texas this has all features I wanted.
