Customer Questions & Answers

Can this door be trimmed?

Can this door be trimmed? I have an opening that is approximately 24.5" wide that I would like to close up with a bi-fold door. My handyman suggested that he may need to trim the door about a half inch on either side in order to accommodate a door frame.
Asked by: Tara
yes, we trimmed our bi-fold doors on both sides

Are these panels on both sides of the doors? I want to use these between 2 rooms.

Finished opening.

I'm pre-planning my finished opening for my project. What's the finished opening for this brand of door? I'm wanting to use 2 - 24" Bi-fold doors for my closet.
Asked by: TK

when you go to the store to look at this door the same sku is a different brand why is that?

i walked into the store trying to find this JELD-WEN door but the sku was listed as a veranda door in stock.
Asked by: annon
I noticed that, the Veranda is still junk, with poorly glued panels that are already loose.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Not worth the price I bought these doors to replace a set of hollow paperboard doors. What a mistake. The door frames are solids but the raised panels are made of 8 strips of wood glued together. The grain of these strips does not match well making the seams very noticable if you stain the doors. Also, the fit of the raised panels was very sloppy. The panels were loose in the frames causing them to rattle when you moved the doors. The panels moved about 1/4 inch in all directions in the frame. The doors are very thin. I mic'ed the edge of the raised panels where it enters the frame at just over 1/8 inch thick. These doors are going back tomorrow.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Caution on Door Finishing and Construction I used 2 of the doors on a sliding side by side closet application. Needed to trim 3/4" from the bottom to adjust height and found that there was virtually no glue between the side stiles and bottom rail. Very concerned how these doors will hold up over time. Note that the rails and stile faces are all veneer and bubbled at one section - not easy to repair without glue injected through a needle of sorts. For this application, I can use the "bad veneer" side facing the interior of the closet. As pine doors go, these are very inexpensive and if they hold up are worth the money. However, one needs to consider that a professional's price to finish these doors and install them would be much more than the door cost itself. So if you are a weekend home contractor, the door is worth the risk but if you pay someone to do this work consider a more expensive better quality door.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Very soft pine, 1/8" thin panels, handles easily fall off Very soft pine (hence they are wrapped in plastic!) - too easy to ding with any wood, plastic or metal object. 1/8"-1/4" thin panels of pine pieces glued on their side. Handles easily screw out and fall off within a year of installation. Could not custom-size the height through HD, and contractor charged me 8 hours of labor per door to fit them. Cheap plastic on the track wheel gets cut in after 6 months of use, and the door wobbles loose with a considerable noise when A/C blows on it. No choice of hinge color - only ugly bright yellow.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Leaves a lot to be desired Included hardware is cheap. Plastic pivot points not metal, I expect the plastic will wear away in time. The cheap plastic spring holder keeps popping out of the track. The track sheet metal is too thin. The screws they put in to mount the knobs is 1/4 too long. I had to drill the knob deeper and then add washers to the backside so the screws would not protrude. I was short one screw for the alignment tabs for the bottom of the door. You'd think for $89 you would get some quality. Doors made in Chile hardware made in China.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Solid bifold Hard to hang, operation not smooth. Instead of sitting on lower pin, it hangs from upper pin. One pair, of the set of 2, for my 4' pantry will not stay closed flat. The hinges should be back-mounted, maybe they would work better, but they attach to the edges of the panels. I spent a long time painting them, so I might try buying new back mounted hinges instead of returning.
