Product Overview

The 6-Panel Molded Interior door from Jeld-Wen is perfectly suited to classic American architecture. This door has a woodgrain surface with a modified cove and bead sticking profile. Solid core construction reduces sound transmission by up to 50 percent (compared to a hollow flush door). It also helps prevent the dents and dings of daily life. One way Jeld-Wen supports sustainable construction is by using recycled materials in the production of our Molded Interior doors. In fact, these molded door skins are made using 80% recycled content.

Customer Questions & Answers

How can you tell difference between right and left handed?

Asked by: jason
JELD-WEN builds all our interior doors as inswing doors from a person standing outside of the room looking into the room. A left handed door would swing into the room to the left. A right handed door would swing into the room to the right. Thank you for your inquiry.

Is the jamb plastic coated?

I expect the jamb to be finger jointed material, however, some of the manufacturers have taken to coating the jamb with a plastic coating to smooth them out. Is this jamb coated?
Asked by: rablrsr
No, jamb and stops have only a spray-primer finish.

The door is fine, but the stapling of the jambs are awful. The jambs came apart and if it were not for my excellent carpenter, gluing and nailing the jambs, my project would never have be completed. You can not hand these doors DIY. The jambs don't hold to plumb and hang.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Poor packaging, poor quality product Packaging is extremely poor- had to sort through entire stock of this door to find one that wasn't badly dinged, and the one I purchased had dings hidden in corners under the cardboard. How much would it cost to put packaging over the hinges to prevent doors from dinging one another? Trim pack packaging was a joke, too - one cardboard strip had three staples, other had six that were over-driven so staples came through face of the trim. The door itself is so-so, but the striker was over-routed and uneven - looked like it had been (poorly) routed without benefit of a template. Nothing like having to use wood filler to attempt a fix on a new pre-hung door! The top stop for the door frame was offset away from the door almost a 1/16" relative to the side stops, and was cut 5/16" short of both sides of the frame. One side stop had a 3' section without any nails/brads to hold the stop in the frame, and none of the stops are glued to the frame. I have purchased a number of Jeld-Wen interior doors in the past and been reasonably happy with them (as opposed to the exterior doors, two different models I have purchased, and both were junk), but this interior door has lousy packaging and lousy assembly.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from "Don't get over screwed" Upon receiving the door I noticed it was not quite squared. It was only secured by two plastic packaging straps and plastic wrap. After taking the wrap and straps off, I noticed the door sagging due to the hinge screws being loose. By hand, I attempted to tighten and check all (18) hinge screws, only to find out all were stripped due to being over tightened from the factory. I had to repair all (18) screw holes in order for the door to hold.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from really poor I ordered about 10 of these doors in various sizes from Home Depot. These doors are incredibly cheap. The faces of them were damaged under the packaging. The hinges were not installed into the jamb mortises correctly. Some of the hinge screws were stripped when received. On the active/active double doors they do not even mortise the jambs for ball catch strike plates. Incredibly cheap.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Hinges are screwed to soft MDF I decided to remove the hinges to paint the door. The screws came out with a few little chunks of MDF attached. I had to be very careful when reinstalling the screws because the MDF is extremely soft. I expect that the screws will eventually strip out. There should have been some more substantial material to hold the hinges. I know that the doors are quite inexpensive, but even so, they should be made to last a while.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Best bang for the buck for a solid door These doors are very nice for the price. I installed five during a remodel and they were all nice and true, they feel so much nicer than my old 1970 hollow core doors!

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Horrible purchase. Absolutely horrible. The door came pre-hung as it was intended to, however it opened the wrong way. The door was damaged severely. Cosmetic damage all over, dings scratches and substantial dents. The door was not painted, instead it was poorly primed.
