Product Overview

JELD-WEN Molded Interior doors now include a true Craftsman style door with flat panels and Craftsman sticking. These doors reflect the clean, unadorned, balanced design created over a century ago. They are the perfect choice for Bungalow or Craftsman style homes yet their clean, geometric lines also make them increasingly popular with contemporary style homes as well. Our factory-finish doors have a beautiful smooth finish that you cannot achieve by painting your doors with a brush. Solid core construction reduces sound transmission by up to 50 percent (compared to a hollow flush door). It also helps prevent the dents and dings of daily life. One way JELD-WEN supports sustainable construction is by using recycled materials in the production of our Molded Interior doors. In fact, these molded door skins are made using 80% recycled content.

The standard hinge finish appears to be nickel. Are there any other hinge finishes available? It would seem that since these doors are made to order and shipped from the manufacturer, there would be other hinge finishes available.

The quality of these Jeld-Wen prehung doors is terrible for a number of reasons: Wait Time and Poor Packaging: I ordered two prehung doors (a 30x80 and 28x80) that took five weeks to arrive at my local HD. One of the doors was so badly damaged upon arrival that HD had to reorder it, which took another month to get. Poorly constructed jambs: I ordered the doors with finger jointed pine jambs, but the factory uses MDF door stops glued to the jamb, so there is no way to remove the door stop for fine adjustment of the gap--a normal thing to do when hanging doors. Quality prehung doors have pine door stops tacked onto the jamb with a couple staples for easy removal and adjustment. Also, the header jamb was glued and stapled to the legs off center by 1/8" to where the door stop is not even all the way around, creating an uneven gap when the door is closed and a noticeable, ugly jog in the door stop. I ended up having to disassemble the jamb, realign it, and reassemble it to get everything lined up correctly, but I paid Jeld-Wen for a prehung door so I wouldn't have to spend the time doing that. Terrible Hinge Routing and Stripped Screws: When the reordered door finally arrived, I found that all three hinges were routed at different depths than each other, and one was routed at an angle. In order to get the door gap even and to stop the door from binding, I ended up removing the upper and lower hinges and bending the ears in a vice, along with shimming behind the hinges. When checking the center hinge screws that go into the door, I found two of them to be stripped. Very shoddy workmanship. Incorrect Jamb Size: On one of the doors the header jamb was cut too long by almost 1/8", resulting in an almost 1/4" door gap on the striker side compared to the proper 1/8" gap on the hinge side and on the header jamb. Having the uneven gap looks like garbage, and the cap is so wide that I can see light between the door and the door stop when the door is shut. I will have to disassemble this jamb too, cut down the header jamb, reroute the rabbit and cut a new miter in the door stop, and reassemble the jamb. Conclusion: It would have taken less time and been far cheaper for me to order the door slabs and build my own jambs, and the quality would have been four times nicer. Why is Jeld-Wen charging so much for such shoddy craftsmanship, and why can't they teacher their employees how to use a tape measure, jig, and a router? I didn't have time to build my own jambs for this project, and for the price of these doors I expected the jambs to be correctly cut and assembled and the hinges to be properly routed within reason. Instead, I received two doors that each had major problems, and one of those doors to over 2 months for me to receive, delaying the project. This is the first and last time I will buy anything made by Jeld-Wen. I recommend you use another manufacturer, even if you have to pay a little more for quality.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Jeld Wen build quality terrible As a previous homebuilder with nine years of experience, I have an eye for quality and attention to detail. I waited awhile to review these but shouldn't have. I purchased 14 doors. They were on sale at the time and my wife and I had purchased these solid core craftsman doors to replace the hollow core ones in our home we are slowly remodeling. The doors arrived on a skid and completely wrapped in plastic which made them impossible to view for damage. We accepted them and brought them home. I began to install them and noticed exposed trim nails first. Not a problem as I figured I would just break them off and hammer them in and wood fill. Then I noticed a warped door, so I put that one for a closet door. The sticking is also barely tacked on and not square as the previous reviewers had mentioned. The sticking is also bowed so the door does not seal square against it. I also believe the strike plate is bored incorrectly so when you install a lock set the door rattles inside the strike. Make sure to get adjustable strikes with the bend tab so the door will close silently. Some doors have the hinges inset inside the door cleanly following the hinge, while a few are simply screwed to a bored out rectangular inset. While the doors are a huge improvement to the standard flat hollow-core doors we had, the price of these doors is high considering the build quality. They don't have these in stock in the store so be careful ordering and know that they will be flawed and need repairs once purchased. I'll try to add some images later if possible.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from OK but not good enough I bought these doors when they were on sale. So, no comlaint on the design and quality of the door itself compared to the price I paid. One thing that gave me trouble was misalgnment of the pre-bored holes for the door lock on the door and the door jamb. They are misalgned by about 3/16" - just about the gap between the door top and the door rail. They may have forgotten this gap and just set their machine to cut the slots and holes at the same position on the door itself and the door jamb. I am very disappointed that such a big company can make such a simple mistake.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from They look good, but.... ..... The previous reviewer is correct. Traditionally, these rails would be squared off, creating a true frame and panel. The thing is, only cabinet makers are gonna frown on this (me)... but your wife/girlfriend and the neighbor are gonna think these look great. The beauty of this design is it draws your eye in a way that it makes the door seem taller than it is. 4 stars because it's still a decent door.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Design has flaws If you are looking for a nice Craftsman style door, don't get this one. The sticking on a Craftsman door should be squared off. The "rails and stiles" are angled where they meet the "panels", not squared off. Huge disappointment in appearance.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great door, love the look Love the look of these doors. Nice shaker style but angle around the panels slightly softens the look. Better than a hard 90 degree angle. We installed 5 pre-hung and also hung 2 slabs in the doorway into the den. I really wanted something different from the standard 6 panel and these are the best! Love them!

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Door required a REBUILD prior to install! The door's appearance met expectations. Installation of pre-hung doors is generally simple enough. However, the door required REBUILDING prior to install. Lots of play in the top hinge causing the door to miss-align. Switching the top hinge with the tighter bottom hinge remedied issue for the time being. At the very least Home Depot owes me a hinge! Remaining hinges were inadequately fastened; I removed and glued & screwed. Except for hinge defects, I suppose, value was okay. Quality okay except hinges. I'll give HD another chance.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Not top Value.. It is of a lower quality than it looks online. The surface it is not as smooth as is should be, not perfect, but much better than a hollow core door. Painted looks much better.
