Product Overview

The basics done better, JELD-WEN V-2500 Series Vinyl Windows are made to be durable, energy efficient and attractive for many years to come. Essentially a horizontal version of a single-hung window, the sliding window has one moveable sash that slides left or right alongside the fixed sash. Nail fin frames are ideal for new or replacement construction in a typical wood frame structure - commonly referred to as stick-built construction. Nail fins can be easily removed for pocket or block frame installation into wood, concrete or masonry walls with little disruption to the interior and exterior trim. Coated with a microscopic silver layer, Low-E insulating glass lowers energy costs and helps homes stay cooler in the summer and warmer in the winter by reflecting sunlight away from the home in hot weather and heat back into the home in cold weather.

Do these windows comply with Urban Wildfire regulations -
Asked by: Amy
Thank you for your interest. The glass used in this window does not allow it to be certified for use to comply with Urban Wildfire regulations as the glass is standard annealed not does not include any tempered/safety glass. If you are interested in this or any other products with safety glass that would qualify for Urban Wildfire regulations, please visit a Home Depot store near you and allow a window and door associate to quote or order what you need.

Jeld-Wen website states the Low-E V-2500 window (as your site specs it) is NOT ENERGY STAR COMPLIANT IN ANY ZONE. Yet your site says it is. JW site further states that the Solar Heat Gain is 0.35 NOT 0.33 as your site/specs indicate. Which is the truth? Who do I believe? Speaking only for this JELD-WEN window that is stocked in Home Depot stores under in-store sku #627297 it absolutely meets energy star performance for Oakland, CA located in the Energy Star North-Central Climate Zone. I am not seeing the picture or screen shot referenced in your question but please be sure to consider that this window is supplied with Low E 366 and Argon Filled glass unit configuration. The values suggested in your question seem to line up with Low E or Low E/Argon glass unit configuration vs the Low E 366 Argon glass it actually comes with. The window supplied reaches U-Factor (The rate of heat loss through a window – the lower the number the better a window resists the transfer of heat) of .29 where .30 or lower is required. The window supplied has Solar Heat Gain Coefficient (SHGC is measurement of the amount of solar radiation transmitting through a window – the lower the number the fewer UV rays pass through) performance of .23 where less than .40 is required. The NFRC labels applied to this sku/product stocked in stores should reflect the energy performance values reported here. As agreed to in your previous question posted, there does appear to be a mistake in the data reported on www.homedepot.com. Thanks to your feedback, we are recommending a correction to that as soon as possible.

Lowes website lists this unit as U-Factor 0.25 and Solar Heat Gain at 0.23. HD lists it at 0.33 (which means it can't legally be installed in Oakland, CA...likely nowhere in CA I'm betting) and 0.33, respectively. So, which is it? I find it interesting that HD lists both at 0.33 when most windows whose specs I've looked at show different numbers for each category.

Overall a great looking window! looks fabulous and was so easy to install, slides beautifully. I would have given this produst a 5 star, however my one complaint (and its small) is that whoever constructed the window was a messy and left quite a bit of glue/guck on the acual window glass. It came off, but not easily and after 20 minutes of 'goo gone' and frustration. Not how I want to spend my time after installing a brand new window. But am I happy? Yes!

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Sloppy Appearance but Otherwise Okay I'm on my 16th window of this series purchasing a few at a time. The first 12 were fine to hang right out of the package. The last four are the sloppiest construction yet and each one worse than the one before. There is silicone sealant oozed out onto the frame, some gray adhesive that is smeared all over the glass from careless handling it appears. The gray substance only comes off with paint thinner and lots of elbow grease to make clean, smear free glass. It takes longer to clean up the window than it does to remove the old ones and set in the new ones. If Jeld-Wen is this careless with the visual appearance it makes one shudder to think how careless they may be with the critical glass bonding you cannot see.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great upgrade for an older mobile home. I bought 11 of these in varying sizes to replace all of my single pane windows on an older mobile home. The old windows were so bad that when the wind blew it would make the blinds move. These new windows not only stop all of the wind but most of the outside noise as well. The wind can be howling with gusts up to 50 mph and you won’t even hear it inside. Cars can drive past and you don’t hear a thing. They don’t block all the noise you can still hear big trucks/motor cycles but a majority of the sound is gone. The windows were a breeze to install and seem to be built fairly well. They aren’t premium windows but I wasn’t going to spend $10k on windows for an older house, I spent around $1,800 and got all of my windows replaced. It’s just now getting cooler outside and the heater almost never runs. Can’t wait to see how my gas bills compare to last years.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Best upgrade for comfort I am replacing all my windows and have done 3 of these so far. Best upgrade that can be made to help beat the AZ heat and sun. Hours after installing, i could feel a HUGE difference in the rooms. $151 for dual plane, vinyl, LowE, Argon filled, you can not beat that value.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from just what we were looking for These windows were $$ cheaper at Home Depot than anywhere else, so we were happy with the price. The insulation specifications were also better than we expected. Once we understood the instructions, they were relatively easy to install with some basic carpentry skills. On the down side, the viewing area is different between sections, which gives them an unbalanced feel, but that's being picky for our use. Also, one of the fins was damaged, but not enough to go to the trouble of returning it. These are not high-end windows, but good, functional replacements for old, rotting, heat-losing windows in an average house.
