Using PVC glue is optional, but you nearly always do it for outdoor applications. That is so water & dirt do not lead to corrosion up to where the wire is terminating/ beginning (like into connection box).

In a rare case for example, I may not use glue. Like I may run an outdoor wire underground 15' to a tree light, and put it the wire inside conduit just for added protection #from one day excavating with a garden tool#. I would not glue in that situation if some wire was not in conduit. But, the run-part that is close to the box I would glue, as to try to cut off air-corrosion to that box area. Also, if the conduit is up high protected by a roof from water and your climate is not extreme, it may not be an absolute must to glue it if common sense tells you that.
However, most of the time gluing is the norm #where can use protection from water/ dirt/ air corrosion/ animals#.
Indoors I wouldn't use glue, such as running conduit in a garage. Read Less

Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Easy To Work with Easy to work with. Sturdy. Cut's easily with standard tools. Wires pull thru it easily. August 20, 2014
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Easy to work with Light, easy to work with, and cheap :-) Prime it, glue it, then throw it in the ground. That's it. I recommend pulling the wire through as you go, as it is only 1/2 inch. May 13, 2014
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Good product Excellent product as pvc conduit goes. The writing down the conduit is not straight so is no way to hide the writing towards the wall as a professional would. Home depot does not have a decent rack for it so all of the ones I bought where bowed making for difficult installation to look correct. Price was right though. June 18, 2013
