Answer:
Yes. It comes natural, so at the very least you should seal it. I stained mine dark to match my patio furniture, and then put a protective coat over that. It looks great. You can also paint it, if you like that look.

Answer:
I would advise it, especially if the swing will be exposed to the weather. If you don't want a stained look I would at least seal it. Not only will it preserve the wood, it will prevent splinters and discoloration. The associate in the paint department at your local Home Depot store should be able to answer any questions you may have.

Answer:
Since the wood is unfinished. it would look nicer long term to stain and/or "finish" the swing. What exposure to the sun and the elements the swing will have should be the deciding factor.

I need to replace a swing. The seat measures 48" from side to side. The back measures 54" from side to side. The hole for the chain is 50-1/2 from middle of holes. What size swing do I buy?

The 4' swing I bought is a replacement swing. It is slightly smaller than the one it replaced but it seats two adults very comfortably or three small adults snugly.

I bought a 4 foot swing and my dimensions are smaller than yours. It sounds like you had a 5 foot swing. The size you buy is a matter of personal preference along with how many people are going to use the swing. Hope this helps.

Jennings 4 ft. Traditional Wood Porch Patio Swing is rated 3.6 out of 5 by 52.
Rated 2 out of 5 by from Got what I paid for Swing was easy to assemble. It's not quite as comfortable as I would have liked it to be; the back isn't quite high enough and the seat could be a little longer and the seat's back angle could be greater than a 90 degree stance. If you must have a swing, go with a higher end one.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Ok Product We have a few of these swings around our fire pit. We stained them and they look great. We know they will not with stand the test of time but they will last a few years we hope since they will only be out in the summer months.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Good buy Home delivery. Easy to assemble. Stained beautifully. Bought some additional chain so that we could hang in front yard tree. Many compliments. Not the strongest bench but works for our family.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Very poor quality Was worried about them falling apart. Tiny slats attached with staples. Not a swing meant for normal sized adults, possibly children. I had them up for a week but I have already replaced them.

My 17 year old son assembled it within an hour. I then stained it (a beautiful stain from Home Depot). I was saddened that it was not as deep as I thought it would be, but that is my only complaint, because I have not been able to find a bottom cushion for it. It is used nightly to watch my kids in the backyard.
