Customer Questions & Answers

how do I get repair parts

I don't have a parts list

What is the WEIGHT capacity of the cart?

Knowing that this cart should hold "up to" 400 feet of 5/8" hose isn't a help to me, since the total weight of the hose varies with the material it's made from and whether or not the hose contains water.. If the 400 feet of hose is full of water, that adds over 216 pounds to the loaded cart. I need to know the total weight the cart is designed to accommodate.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Hard to Install, necessary parts missing and not on parts list. While this hose reel seems to be OK there are some quality issues. First of all to install the hose reel you need three nuts that while shown on the schematic are not listed in the parts list. In my case one was included. I had to find two other nuts from my collection to finish installation. While there were holes in the basket flanges for the water system they were a tad too small requiring you to force it through at both ends. There is a latch pin that goes through the frame and handle to hold the handle up. It has to be forced through then forced back out with more effort than my wife can manage, This is caused by misalignment of the holes in the steel tubes. There was the same problem with the bolt for one of the rubber feet. To put the reel together requires two people and the missing two nuts. It almost felt as though this was a computer assisted design that was never made as a prototype by the company. At least it does not leak.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Hoping it would work better This reel was a big upgrade from our cheap, plastic reel, and was able to accomodate our 300-foot hose. However, after a month, major leaks were springing our from the fittings and rust began to form everywhere. Disappointed with the durability considering I purchased this model based on the two good reviews before this one.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from leaks I purchased 2 of these. I spent over an hour putting each of them together and had to make 2 trips to return this poorly made product. Both units leaked at the seam on the water inlet at first use. I am more than frustrated and deserve some kind of compensation for all my time.

Having said that, these are my observations: 1) The assembly was much more difficult then necessary. a) The central drum is held together by three long, thin rods which extend only a fraction of an inch beyond the opposite end of the drum. Getting the rods to poke through the appropriate hole was a maddening 30 to 45 minute adventure. The design should either figure out how to incorporate longer rods, or provide some sort of disposable extender that helps the assembler thread the rods through the holes. b) The instructions do not make it clear that there is a correct way and an incorrect way to install the tow handle. my 50/50 wager was wrong. c) Bolts/screws should be color coded or identified in a clearer manner. 2) The pin provided to secure the tow handle is a great idea. Unfortunately, I have found that the mechanism design to hold it in place is ineffective. The design of this pin needs to be improved. All in all, I recommend the item as it is priced appropriately for the job it performs.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Best Hose Reel I Have Ever Purchased This is the best hose reel I have ever purchased and used. I am using this reel to hold a total of 350 feet of 3/4" rubber hose. This reel is heavy duty and is made of steel. It is much more durable than the plastic hose reels. The reel swivels to allow easy movement of the hose during use. Although the reel is heavy when loaded with 350 feet of hose, the reel can easily be moved on its wheels after the swivel mechanism is locked in place with an included pin. It was a bit difficult to assemble because the reel hub is held by two long threaded rods which must be aligned through two holes in the hub. Proper positioning of the reel hub (threaded rod at the 6 o'clock position during assembly) and having a flashlight handy overcome this problem. No modifications of the reel were necessary to assemble the reel. I strongly recommend this hose reel to anyone who wants a heavy duty, high capacity reel.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Best Hose Reel Available This product is very sturdy and well painted. The best hose reel I could find. Assembly was slightly challenging since a number of holes drilled in the tubing were not perfectly aligned. A little hammering pushed the bolts through to complete assembly. The reel functions well, making easy work of loading and unloading hose (in my case heavy-duty 3/4 dia. 200 ft hose which is fire protection for our home).

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Sturdy Very sturdy. Not particularly easy to assemble given a few parts looked exactly alike and directions could have had close-ups.
