The saw is 100% better than the cheap ones I've bought before. The lever you have to pull out to separate the pieces or remove the attachments could be bigger and easier to grasp. But the sections lock together solidly and will not move or rotate. Even though they say not to...I leave the saw on one section and the pruner on another since most of my work is low. Then when needed for higher work, I combine them. Highly recommend.

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by exrunner Great lightweight pole tree trimmer
This is an outstanding product - well made, lightweight, easy to use.
Best with addition of 8-ft extension that was not available from Home Depot.
I had to buy 8-ft extension from a third party company (Sherrill, Inc).

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by avwilke Works very well
This tool is very well made and I expect it to last for years. As the pruner and saw blade are modular, they can be replaced if needed. Interlocking handle sections work well; I particularly like the way that the locking mechanism can be locked open (slide the catch sideways) to hold it open while you switch parts. There are still some branches farther than it's 14-foot reach, but I can't imagine dealing with a longer pole.

Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Sam OK if youi replace the supplied rope - don't expect any support from Jameson
The pruner's performance is greatly reduced by the very stretchy nylon rope provided by Jameson. I replaced the rope with a new piece that does not have the stretch problem.
I needed help from Jameson with a part for their pruner and they told me to go talk to the distributor where I bought the pruner. As I bought it from Home Depot this meant no support at all for anyone buying their products from other than a tree trimming supply company. I ran into this problem with Anderson Windows and so I have learned to avoid certain companies that refuse to support the end user of their products.

Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by TEM Very effective and worth the $, except problem separating pole
I would have liked to give this tree trimming package 5 stars because everything was very solid and did the job extremely well. The 12' pole was strong, the blade was sharp, and the overall effectiveness was high and I feel worth the extra money compared to the "homeowner" version. However, I was surprised that after sawing palm tree branches for 2 hours, I could not separate the two pieces of the pole. I ended up really putting force into twisting them apart as well as tapping them apart using tools. But they are really stuck. Now it is a 12' pole that's difficult to store and transport and also can't be used in it's 6' configuration for lower jobs. Still glad I bought this product, but I had to knock 2 stars off for the surprise with the pole.

Very good trimmer and pruner for the price. Just make sure you put some type of lubricant between the two aluminum pieces so they will come apart easy. I'm happy with it.

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by gardener Very good trimming tool
I purchased the Jameson tree trimming package because a professional tree company used one on our street, and I liked the way it seemed to work. I have used it in many different situations and it is far superior to previous tree trimmers I used. I keep one pole section with the pruning hook/shear on it, and the other with the saw. It is simple and effective to remove one head and put the two sections together; the assembly is rigid enough to control (although it is fairly heavy). The saw head has a "finger" on it, so cut branches which "hang up" on the way down can be pulled out more efficiently than using the saw blade for that purpose. Both saw and pruning hook are sharp and strong enough not to bend out of shape. It is straight-forward to make clean cuts.

This is not the 1st Jameson product I own. They make a good product and I bought this particular pruner/saw based on prior experience with other model. Pruner and saw blades are sharp and cut easily. Unlike cheaper units, poles are stiff and don't bend at full extension. Also very light so using them isn't tiring and not as awkward as others I've used. Don't think you'd be disappointed with this one.
