why does this one say hand pruner shears and the cheaper ones say tree pruner shears. I want to trim tree branches up high are the hand pruner shears for this type of work
Asked by: larry
My guess would be that it's operated by hand rather than powered by gas or electric, like many others. I am guessing it's not that it's made for cutting hands rather than trees, but that is a possibility, I guess.

Is the saw blade the 13" or 16" (why doesn't HD state that and I wouldn't have to ask - DUH ???)
Asked by: Joran
It comes with the good 16" tricut blade.. I actually bought it separately thinking the poles came with the 13".. I wanted the better blade.. but it came with the blade I ultimately wanted..

what is the difference between the green pole and the yellow pole?

what is the difference between the green pole and the yellow pole?
Asked by: dkd
weight and thickness of the pole.. the green is the residential model and is the lightest.. the yellow is slightly thicker and a little heavier.. the yellow poles are less likely to have any bend in them while using the poles connected to each other.. I tried the green poles and had to use 3 poles together to reach my trees.. it's doable but the poles do bend a little while using them which makes it more difficult.. so I wound up going with the yellow model. These green ones are more than adequate though if you're only using the two 6ft poles together.. any more than that and it becomes challenging..

Customer Reviews

Landscape Double Pulley Pruner and Pole Saw Package with Two 6 ft. Poles is rated 4.6 out of 5 by 8.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Pruner I looked at reviews for other brands and they all seemed to say the same thing - flimsy when extended. Jameson is a professional tool used by linemen etc. So for $150 you get a tool that will last a lifetime. The only negative is that lopper attachment is heavy duty, and a therefore a bit heavy to manipulate for long periods of time - your arms will get sore.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Happy I bought it It is easy to assemble, and the assembly mechanism looks solid --- I expect it to last. The clipper is super heavy --- I'm sure it is fantastically sturdy, but it is so heavy I think it would be hard to use. I stuck with the saw blade --- and having a saw blade by itself made it much easier to use than a combination pole saw I had tried before.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Made to Last Homeowner with plenty of mature trees, I needed a Pole pruner that would last more than a year or two. I researched pruners and decided on the Jameson. When I received it I was impressed with the build quality and the handling ease, switching from saw to pruner accessory was fast and simple. These pole pruners are not cheap but will outlast the $40 to $60 variety , plus make your pruning and trimming work easier. This pruner is worth the money and it's a quality tool made for Professionals so I figure it was what I needed. Have only used it a couple of times so far, but the double pulley action makes it much easier in comparison to the home variety cheapo's that I had been using, would buy again for sure.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Does what it does very well I bought this for use on my property, I have a 100 yard long driveway though the woods, and trees near my house. I was trying down a sizable tree almost touching my house and had it roped in and tried to cut it down with a chainsaw. The tree turned, the ropes held it but it was impossible to take down with the saw from the ground. Not being a big fan of being on a ladder with a chainsaw, I remembered this and started cutting limbs from the top on the ladder with the sawblade attachment. It worked far far better than I would have guessed and I got the tree down without destroying my house. I use the pruner for all the low trees in my driveway, works like a charm, it can handle almost all of the fairly wide branches without a problem. This has proven to be of far more use than I would have originally guess.. great purchase, built well, works well. Only complaint is the sections latch mechanism is a little tough to pull open to separate, but still works well.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great improvement on DIY pole saws Professional-quality tool. A bit unwieldy at the 12' length, but really helps to get to high branches. Nice to have the pole saw head separate from the pruner, to minimize weight. Relatively small size on the pruner is annoying - less than 1" diameter in practice.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Much easier than expected When faced with dead limbs and others in undesirable areas, I finally decided to purchase a pruner/trimmer to resolve the problem. I was dubious about the pruner being able to cut through dead wood even with the pulley system. It was a very pleasant surprise to find that the entire system worked well and was not all that difficult to use. I based my purchase decision on reviews I found on the Home Depot site and hope that this review will prompt others to invest a little more to get the quality product that will perform well making the job a whole lot easier.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Good Product from a good seller The Jameson Landscape Double Pulley Pruner and Pole Saw Package is a very nice pro quality upgrade over similar looking home-owner grade items found on the shelves of most big box stores. I had been using a similar Pole Pruner/Saw made by Corona and it was just not working out for me. The mechanism which locks and unlocks the sliding pole extension on the Corona unit invariably jammed so I could never unscrew the lock ring without Channel-lock pliers. The Corona saw blade seemed to want to stick in the kerf, and it was always in the way when trying to use the pruners, so I finally removed the Corona's saw blade. True, the Jameson cost more than twice as much as the Corona, but it works 3 times better. It's lighter, saws much better, and the pruner easily cuts bigger, harder limbs that the Corona would not. Because the Jameson pruner head and the saw head are 2 different attachments, the one does not get in the way of the other. The saw attachment is very light! Having 2 six foot poles rather than one telescoping pole means no locking collar to jam, and for close work, it's lighter, as well. The Jameson poles are also stiffer than the Corona - which bowed a lot when pulling hard on the pruner rope. The quick release buttons to add and remove the Jameson attachments work well. Some have complained that the Jameson aluminum ferrules tend to stick or jam, but I put a light spray oil on mine and have never had a problem. The only downside to the Jameson pole saw/pruner is that I could not find one in local stores, so I had to order it online. Home Depot online had the combo unit I wanted, at a very competitive price and free shipping, too.
