Customer Questions & Answers

Is it to late to use this product and have my flower seeds mature to blooms?

Asked by: Georgie
Good question. Due to time of season we would assume your location has passed the last average frost date. If not we would recommend to start your seeds indoors. If your last average frost date has passed you can still start your seeds in our Jiffy products or you can plant your seeds directly into the soil. Regarding to blooms that all depends on the variety you are planting. Days to bloom plus other helpful information is stated on the back of our packets or stated on the website under the variety specifications then details. Hope this helps and our best to you this gardening season.

Customer Reviews

Professional Greenhouse Starter Kit is rated 4.4 out of 5 by 30.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Easy to use I decided I wanted to have a container garden on my porch so we could have fresh products and seasoning. The product was very simple and easy to use. 75% of my plants grew, which made me go back and buy 3 more. Even after I had given up on the ones that didn't germinate, they still germinated after I had tucked them away and forgot about them in the corner. In my last tray and with the refills, I will grow ground covers for our yard.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from greenhouse I have found using the greenhouse and peat pellets is a life saver. I think better than using soil to start seeds.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from CANT WAIT TO USE This green house is twice as big as the one I got last year. Although it doesn't come with the seeds the 72 pods are a great bang for the buck!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Could had been great! This was so easy to use. I am super excited. Some of my seeds started sprouting in 3 days. The cover would not stay on. I had to use press and seal on first then I put the cover on. I did use the heating mat. I can't believe it!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Very easy to use The starter greenhouse is very easy and convenient to use. I recommend using them. However I did have to transplant seedlings into larger containers before planting.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great way to start plants for the garden I have used these trays for 4 years now (this being the 4th) and have yet to not have at least 90% of my seeds germinate. I do not understand how another poster said they had nothing germinate. The simple directions, if followed, produces the desired results. These are essentially mini green houses. I use warm water to expand the pellets, the warm water increases the humidity (once the lid is on) which in turns allows the seeds to germinate. I then place 3-4 seeds in each pellet and make sure the seed is deep in the pellet and covered in the warm, moist peat. After all seeds are in, the lid goes on. Usually in 8-12 days you will see sprouts. When you see sprouts you need to lift the lid up on one corner (do not remove the lid completely) to allow air to begin to circulate. When all pods have sprouts showing, remove the lid for the bottom container. Let them grow for a bit then plant. This season I only started corn so far and I have at least two seedlings in each peat pod with many having all 3-4 seeds germinated into seedlings. Even the seeds that fell to the side germinated! I reuse the containers and just buy peat replacements. Both the lid and bottom are quite durable but the inner holed trays are thin and can be bent/damaged easily. But still usable and not necessary to start seeds. They are just there to hold the peat pods in place and spacing. If one is beyond use, it goes into the recycling bin to be recycled. I just purchased some more seeds (of veggies I forgot to pick up) and have two new trays ready to be loaded. I have never used any other product like this to start my seeds but this works great. Better then the old way of starter soil! The peat is in a very light degradable netting that holds quite well and allows a very strong root system to form. Also makes for easy planting. I recommend this to many family members and they have great success as well.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Quick start on garden It took an hour to wet and open the packets, then seed. I was expecting a few days to weeks for germination but some of the seeds sprouted in 24 hours! I don't kow what the final outcome will be since I just used the product a few days ago, but all seems to be on track. Compared to buying plants at $3-6 each, this is a bargain. It was fun as well as a good value.
