Thank you for your question. The plant tray is 21.25" wide x 10.50" deep x 3" in height, when you add the dome it will add another 3" in height. Hope this helps and our best to you this gardening season.

How often do the peat pots need to be watered after the original watering? The lid does not fit securely, is that ok?

Worried about mold, advice?
Asked by: Sharon
Thank you for your question. There are many variables regarding how often to water however once the soil starts to look dry, you can tell by color, then you need to water. Don't flood them but poor enough in one corner to fill the bottom valleys of the plant tray and up slightly or no more than 1/8 of an inch over the valleys. The pots will absorb as needed. Typically water every 2-3 days unless you have on a heat mat, then water every 1-2 days. If the lid does not fit securely that is fine but do put over the best you can so it will create a greenhouse effect. Once the seeds germ some like to take the lid off. We recommend leaving the lid/dome on (unless you are watering) until plants hit the top of the dome, then take it off. Hope this helps and our best to you this gardening season.

Seed Starter Greenhouse is rated 2.9 out of 5 by 7.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from I found a product that works! I used this product on starting my bhut jolokia seed's, 2 years ago i started the seeds by just planting them outside but out of 20 seeds only 3 made it to a plant, i dried some seeds and a year later i found this product strolling at home depot. I planted one seed in each square used warm water and covered it next to the window. It was was important that the temperature should be 80-90 degrees because this plant grows mid Feb and it was still winter. I used seed starting mix soil and i would heat up a pad in the microwave and placed it under every cold morning, soon enough i noticed after about 2 week's i already had these chilli plants coming out of the soil, it was magnificent because the growth success was 100% with this product. I love it and for the price you get something well worth your money starting your seeds in this product.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Poor Design The design of this product is very poor. When the peat pots are packed into the tray as designed, especially with the hydrodome on, it creates a perfect recipe for mold because of the restricted air flow, increased moisture, and the peat. I noticed mold growing on the surface of the soil shortly after starting my plants, and pulled down the side of the tray to discover the pots completely covered in blue mold. After taking the pots out of the tray and running a fan on them the mold quickly went away. However it returns whenever the pots get wet. My other concern with these pots is the ability to keep the soil wet. The peat pots absorb all of the water from the soil leaving it completely dry. The plus side of this is there likely won't be issues with damping off, but from my experience I've had to water pretty heavily 2x per day to keep the soil from being bone dry. The one thing I am excited about with these pots is I will be able to start hard-to-transplant flowers indoors earlier, provided I can keep my plants alive through their mold and drought.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great for New Gardeners! This product was very easy to use, abundant in the amount of pods, a bargain price, and easy to transplant from seed pod to pot! The only bad thing is that it takes up a good portion of my table, but even that is no big deal. The good thing about its size, on the flip side, is it keeps all your seeds in one compact area and makes packing whatever soil you use fairly mess-free. This was a fun product to use!

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Don't buy top doesn't stay one Top doesn't fit properly and doesn't snap shut. Tried to have rubberbands keep it on top only to have it crush top since such thin plastic. You are better off using baked good containers for cookies that snap and using cardboard egg cartons to start seeds.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Mold, and poor design This product seemed like a great purchase. The price was right, and there were enough pods for what I needed. Well, like the other review, I too am having the same problems. I noticed mold spores growing on the top of the pods and immediately began removing them. I also pulled the pods out when I noticed they weren't drying what so ever. I laid them outside out of direct sunlight, and let them air out. They were so drenched that they are still wet 10 hours later. They're now out of the container drying in my kitchen on the stove where it's warm which seems to be doing the trick. I'm not new to gardening, but I am new to this seed starter kit and i"m not impressed. I had better luck with direct sowing in my outdoor pots last year, even when we had a big freeze. I'm glad I have extra soil and plenty of seeds in case the mold damaged the germination.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from The lid does not fit I was not expecting something fantastic but you figure you are still paying a couple of dollars for a flimsy box - at least the lid should actually fit on the thing.
