How often and how many spikes do I use for outdoor flowering plants in 16" and 12" pots? They receive quite a bit of sun. I'm ok on the indoor ones.

They receive a fair amount of direct sun, and I water them as needed, sometimes using a Rapitest Moisture Tester. BTW, I live in Bellingham WA, right on Puget Sound. Thank you, John Poggi
Asked by: Helmsman
Hello Helmsman, The rule of thumb is to divide the diameter of pot by two to determine how many spikes are needed. For example an 8" diameter pot will require 4 spikes placed evenly around the perimeter of the pot. Change them out on average every 60 days. I hope this helps. Cheers, Chris

Rated 4 out of 5 by from alternative to Ozmacote I don't know if these are cheaper than Ozmacote, but I like them and get the same results. If you have lots of pots they might be a pain to put in every 3 months, but I like them when I first pot a plant.
