Answer:
Yes but there is a design flaw in some of the units that causes the height control to drop on it's own. Myself I use a cheap pair of Vise Grips to hold the bar in place.

Answer:
"Fully Adjustable"??? It has a fairly long adjustment range. The brushes will touch my driveway if lowered all the way down, and will raise to about 5 inches up if raised all the way. Generally I raise it all the way up if towing it to where I'm using it, and let it down to the 2nd or 3rd notch for use.

The height is controlled by a leaver on the tounge of the unit. It works fairly well but the design could use some improvement. This is a good product and I would buy again.

Answer:
There is a rope attachment to the frame that you pull to invert the bin (hopper). I just grab the frame and pull. Do not overload because it will be so heavy that it becomes difficult to dump. You will learn the size load as you use the lawn sweeper.

While your sitting on your tractor you have one rope that you can pull on, and the entire baggage area flips up, and dumps the entire load. No need to get up off the tractor!

I use the supplied cord and empty without getting off the mower. That way you can move forward a bit with the hopper up, and not drag clippings all over as wil happen if you get off and dump.

Depends upon you terrain. It can easily be dumped by pulling on the rope to lift the hopper and empty the contents or you can empty by hand. Either way - it is easy to empty.

The hopper hinges forward by pulling forward on the top bar. There is a small rope included to allow you to pull the hopper forward but I replaced it with a strap to allow me to empty it while seated on my mower.

Pull the rope and the hopper pivots, dumping the entire load in one place. Bagging is easier if you dump the leaves on a paved surface.

Use a moderate speed which will allow the brushes to sweep the debris into the catch bin. This will avoid having to go back over the area numerous times.

yes it does indeed pick up gravel. I have the same exact problem with plow throwing rocks up into my front yard, so every spring I've had quite a chore raking the gravel back out to the road. This John Deer 42" lawn sweeper ended my rock raking days. There is however one problem to be aware of. Closer to the road is a ton of gravel...yeah I mean a ton. Rocks weight a lot so I usually only make one pass across the front of lawn closest to the road and have to dump before it gets too heavy. It does take a few passes to get most of the rocks and gravel swept up but this still beats the work of raking them. I have had one other brand that was very disappointing for acorn sweeping. So since I have a lot of oaks here I sold it after two seasons of too many baby oaks sprouting in the yard. This is a good sweeper for sticks, rocks, gravel, acorns, mushrooms. I don't use it for leaf pickup at all, that's just a side benefit of picking up the acorns and sticks. Read Less

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Top Knotch Great piece of equipment, I had a little trouble with assembly, but when I got it together, it does a fine job! Much better than having to rake by hand. September 23, 2016
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Damage I received this John Deere tow behind lawn sweeper damaged. Two thumbs down September 6, 2016
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Works far better than other Sweepers I have owned I've owned one for about 10 years now and yes it does work better than other sweepers I have owned BUT it does have issues. Pro's; I use this to compost leaves and grass clippings. It's probably saved me quite a bit of money on fertilizer. It sweeps far better in turns than other sweepers I have owned. When it works it works very well. When it breaks down I can work on it myself without taking it to a repair shop. Cons; You won't find parts for them at a John Deere Parts store. You'll need to go to the Brinly/Hardy website and order them there. They are the ones who actually make this sweeper. I've had very good results with them. You'll need to keep a close eye on the Pinion Gears. They wear out on the inside first. You'll need a set of snap ring pliers to access the inside. There is a metal bar that slides up and down that engages the pinion gear. Dirt or rust can build up in the tube that holds it and prevent the bar from sliding. Sometimes where this bar contacts the pinion gear it will wear out. Brinly does have a parts diagram that looks confusing at first but makes sense once you have the the parts removed. You can avoid the rust and dirt issues by storing the unit indoors when not in use. I don't have the option of doing that right now. In spite of it's flaws it's the best sweeper I have ever owned. The others died withing a couple of years. This one has lasted me ten. Cons: The pinion gears will give you trouble. September 7, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Works exactly as advertised... Pros: Lawn Sweeper does the job. While it fills the basket quickly, mostly because it works REALLY well, remote dumping with the pull rope is rather simple and easy to do on the move. All of that dead grass due to mower clippings/discharge is no longer a problem. Cons: The assembly instructions are confusing, but not impossible. And it does pick up just about everything, which is not always ideal (especially with a gravel driveway/parking pad). The height adjustment lever does not always hold its setting. July 19, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by john deere lawn sweeper does an awesome job, hope it lasts, other sweepers only last one summer July 19, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Outstanding solution I have a yard that is always wet due to the way the drainage on my street runs. I had tried everything and the lawn sweeper was my last thought before getting into something that would be very expensive. This product has work beautifully. Even the neighbors have complimented the outcome. June 21, 2016
Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Good product, bent in shipping I wanted this to pick up sticks in my wooded lot. Worked perfect! April 5, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by John Deere 42 in. 24 cu. ft. Tow-Behind Lawn Sweeper This lawn sweeper actually exceeded my expectations. It actually picked up all the sticks, pine straw and pine cones in my yard. The yard cleaning usually takes all day using a rake and blower but now it only takes about 2 hours. Best money I have spent in a long time. But, it did take my wife and I longer to put the sweeper together than it did to clean the yard. We labeled the assembly project "marriage therapy."
