What is the purpose for the hopper screen I can't get mine to fit on a d110 John Deere mower bagger

Asked by: Shoter
The screen helps to force some of the debris over into the further bag, otherwise the closest bag would quickly fill up and jam the shoot. The screen goes in on an angle, the upper part tied to the LEFT and the bottom over against the side of the cover. Keeps debris from jamming up and blocking the flow from the shoot.

42 in. Twin Bagger for 100 Series Tractors is rated 4.1 out of 5 by 112.
Rated 4 out of 5 by from Works Great For the price of the bagger it should include a large plastic funnel to stick in a paper leaf bag to make it easier to dump the grass from the bagger collection bags.

Installation of the bag assembly was not difficult altho stretching the rubber straps to secure parts can be difficult for an older person like myself. I had to get help on one strap. I have used the system for picking up leaves 5 times and it does a good job but does often leave a trail of leaves ; however, I am using the regular cutting blades the machine came with. My preference would be to use the mulching blades that came with the bagging system but i am 82 years old and not able to raise the machine, or tip it, to change the blades. Otherwise, the bags are a very good addition to the basic mower.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Could have been better made The installation wasn't too bad, so there's that, but I think the hanging mechanism of each individual bag could be better improved. The single corner hanging apparatus makes unloading full bags a bit inconvenient, because you have to lift a corner and then lift the whole bag. If each bag were to be hung on two parallel bars, like the bagger for the Sears Craftsman mower, it would be much more convenient and quick.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Poor performance regarding leaf collection The bagger was fairly easy to assemble and install. However, if you have to pick up lots of leaves like my lawn requires, the bagger doesn't completely pick up the leaves as they are blown to the right of the mower deck which requires to go over and over the lawn to get all of the leaves. You need to feel the bags before they are completely filled or you have to unclog the chute. You can lower the mower deck to help vacuum more leaves but you run the risk of scalping your lawn. You also have to run the tractor at very low speed which helps but still too many leaves exit to the right of the mower deck. I wish John Deere would offer a baffle kit under your mower deck which could help. I do use the blades that come with the bagger but still have the leaf issue.

This is my second 42 inch twin bagger, they last long and function as expected. Installation was very easy for my first bagger, however upon receiving this bagger it was evident that one major change was required for the install. The customer would have to drill a pilot hole into the frame of the John Deere tractor. I assume the newer John Deere tractors have this hole placed there when it was made. A template was provided. I was furious. To make something that was originally simple, somewhat difficult makes no sense.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Can't recommend The instructions were fairly easy t follow and I had the entire thing out together in less than 30 minutes the problem is that the grass is constantly getting stuck in the tube and stopping the baskets from filling. I can see it happening with wet heavy grass, but it happens regardless of the circumstances. I have tried even cutting the grass at the highest level just trimming it, but it still gets stuck in the tube. Not happy at all with this product Dwane

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Does a good job.. Easy to assemble.. Wish it would hold a little more than what it does, but that's not a big issue.. Good quality, well built... My biggest problem is the view window. It only has 1 window on top and you can't see this window when you are on the mower.. The older version I had with my other John Deere mower had 2 windows, which was on the top facing the driver... They need to go back to that!! A high price tag for a bagger in my opinion also...
