Customer Questions & Answers

For a 48 inch deck What is the total length of the belt

I bought a used mower and when I engage the deck it dies. I wonder if someone has replaced the belt with one that is too short.
Asked by: Allen
If the mower itself is shutting off when you engage the blade, then you are probably having problems with the full pump or something more of that nature than a bet issue. If the belt is to short you will have trouble engaging the blade to start with. And it would be making some really bad sounds. But if you think it is the belt one easy thing to do is take it off and see if the mower stays on when you engage the blade. If it does try greasing the center axle on all the pulleys, with a heat resistant or high temperature grease/lube. Then put the belt back on and see if the problem persist. The only other thing might be if the blades are froze up or jammed. If the mower still dies when the belt is taken off, call the person you bought the mower from demand a refund and return the mower.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Perfect fit. Speedy delivery. I live in a rural area and sometimes it is hard to find the parts you need to make repairs. My John Deere garden tractor broke the mower blade belt and no one had the belt I needed. I checked Home Depot online and found the exact part number listed in my owners manual. I ordered it and received it in just a few days and now my wife can get back to mowing the 2 acre lawn (just kidding). The belt appears to be high quality and made of Kevlar to outlast all regular rubber belts.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from the correct size belt i have tried to by after market belts for this L-130 john Deer mower but they don't last very long. this belt must be made with stronger fibers or something because they last three times longer than the cheep belts.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent Value Before Home Depot started selling this product, I used to buy it at the John Deere dealer. This is quite a deal compared to that, but I see that now that the dealer has become more competitive.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Very Satisfied Fast and cuts evenly. The only negative is that the deck accumulates clippings and they gather underneath the two black plastic housings that turn the blades. It takes a good ten minutes to clean it out properly after use...which is way too long.
