Customer Questions & Answers

Does the D120 have cruise control?

Asked by: Anonymous
Yes the D120 does have cruise control and the delivery team suggested that I use it because going slow for an extended period of time could cause the motor to overheat.

What does PTO mean and what is the function or what does it do in preformance?

Asked by: Anonymous
PTO stands for power take off. This enables you to use the power of the engine to run accessories that did not come installed on the mower. Examples might be a snow thrower, a yard rake, or possibly even a chipper or any attachment that moves but does not have its own motor.

Would a 120 or 140 be enough to plow snow?

Asked by: Anonymous
I don't think the D120 would be my first choice for mouting a blade and plowing, but you can get the snow thrower attachment which mounts on the front of the unit and I am sure would do a great job. throwing the snow to a more convenient location. I am considering going this route myself

Idoes the 120 have a briggs and stration engine or a Kholer, i have a 110 now that has a Kohler

Asked by: Anonymous
Mine has a Briggs and Straton. Since I've only had it a month I think it is safe to assume that is the power plant currently in use.

D120 42 in. 21-HP Hydrostatic Front-Engine Riding Mower-DISCONTINUED is rated 4.1 out of 5 by 73.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Model 120 is a good alternative I'm glad that they offer this model, the 4 Gallon tank and cruise control make it easier to use than the next model down. The mowing deck breathes well and doesn't appear to have any grass snags. The decks water attachment seems to work well. I'm disappointed that the deck cover for composting is an additional charge; I would use this a lot during mid season, dry conditions. The backup pedal is tricky. Overall quaity looks very good, and the "dealer" delivery was a nice touch; no setup or adjustments needed. they even filled the tank and gave me a once over on all the controls. Very professional !

Rated 5 out of 5 by from First impressions After my girlfriend wanted to buy a riding lawn mower for her 3/4 acre hilly lawn, I suggested this mower to her. Comparing it to my (other than JD) mower that I bought from a client, I have these observations: Pros: Smooth ride; much quieter; tighter turn radius; clean level cut; foot pedals for forward/reverse Cons: Seat cutoff switch is too sensitive if you have to adjust your sitting position to avoid low limbs or lean too much on a side slope; using the catcher it is difficult to determine if the bags are full (requiring you to look behind you and seat cut-off may engage) Overall, I believe this mower to be far superior to my mower which was comparably priced. Oh, and one more con, now I want to replace mine with one like hers.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Well designed Lawn Mower Smooth operating Lawn Mower with all the desired features. The reverse "RIO" switch is a bit annoying for backing up with the blade turning. The turning radius is very nice for operating around trees. I definitely recommend installing a speed knob on the steering wheel. The lawnmower leaves a nice cut and has plenty of power. I bought and installed the mulch kit for about $34 and love it after I made a few modifications to sit properly. The extra big gas tank is a welcome accessory on this mower and is much appreciated.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from love the hydrostatic drive The reason i bought this was for the hydrostatic drive and the mulching blade. At first i was very dissapointed with the mulch cut and excess cuttings left on the lawn Right out of the box blades really dull. However since i sharpened the blades, which should have been sharp from the store, i have found they work very well.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great mower and very good light garden tractor. We've used the tractor 5 or 6 times so far and are well pleased. The mower gives a nice even cut and our lawn is far from level. It turns tight enough to get around most obstacles and leaves very little for trimming, less than an inch from walls. A free 7 cubic foot poly dump cart came with it and it is great for yard work. Rep who delivered the mower installed the mulch cover and gave me a tutorial, answered all my questions. I wish there was an emergency disengage for the PTO but don't know of any tractor that does, certainly not in this price range. Of course, everything stops if you leave the seat.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Wouldn't buy again I wasn't expecting high end John Deere quality at this price, but, frankly, I see little difference between this mower and ones from other manufacturers that cost 1/3 as much. I have 30 hours on the meter, and I've replaced two tires, there is a vibration starting in the mower deck, the thing backfires when I turn it off, and, just seems cheap and plastic. I'll maintain it, and get some years out of it, but I think I could have just purchased a much less expensive machine and gotten pretty much the same thing.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great quality Machine! I bought my d120 about 3 months ago and already have 6+ hours on it. Mows great and has plenty of power. Only thing I don't like is the seat safety switch is to sensitive, if you adjust your seating position it activates and the engine cuts out briefly. other than that no regrets, worth every dollar!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Easy to use I bought this d120 tractor a couple of days ago and it is really easy to use. my wife is blind in one eye and she is able to dive and mow the grass. It is simple with the foot controls and the cruise is also simple to use. I would recommend this tractor to other people.
