We live in the mountains of Colorado. Just got mine a couple of weeks ago. 3 acres of trees, rocks and meadow grass. It's just starting to warm up, but snow is flying again today. I've not cut any grass yet, but have towed a cart behind it moving some firewood and mulch, it it pulls it without any effort.
It has a tight turning radious that I do appreciate navigating between trees and rocks.
It's very quiet even at high engine rpms. I've owned the same size and hp in a cub cadet, and compared to it, this one already has it beat! The only suggestion I could offer to make it better, is get rid of the plastic brake handle. I see future problems with it in time. All othe features are great. I hope to enjoy it once it warms up and the grass starts to grow again.

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Brutus2014 Love the extra power
I previously owned a D110 that had plenty of power for flat ground, but had to give it away as part of conditions in selling my former home. Our new lawn is a good bit larger, but also some pretty steep grades. This 20HP V-twin tackles it with no problem. Good cut in the thick bermuda as well. If you are looking at the 110 or 120, especially if you have any hills, go with the 125, you won't regret it.

The JD 125 has exceeded my expectations. It is quite, comfortable, yet powerful enough to accomplish all of my outside landscaping needs. I needed a lawn tractor that I could use to move mulch and top soil as well as mow. It had to be stable on uneven terrain and this mower has performed exceptionally well. It has a tight turn radius, mows evenly from side to side, and pulls my lawn trailer with ease.

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Carlos Great tractor so far
Received it as described and in a timely manner. I added the bagger through my authorized John Deere delivery guy. Haven't had a single clogging problem yet and I still have the stock blades on there. Cuts like a pro and my yard is looking better then ever! Very happy with this purchase. I use to pay a lawnscaper, this tractor should pay for its self in about two years.

Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by ChrisInVirginia It's great...except for the transmission
I want to love this mower....really. I've had no issues with it cutting my 1 acre of grass and hauling firewood around in a gorilla cart. However, the weak link in these mowers is the transmission. I've only got 30 hours on mine and the transmission is starting to whine loudly, even on level ground with the mower deck disengaged. So I started looking online to see what can be done. Apparently, these transmissions fail a LOT and you need to remove it from the mower to change the fluid.
I've owned this thing for a couple of months now and I took it to the local JD dealer to see if they could fix it. They're willing to fix it under warranty, but say that the transmissions are weak in this model and they change them a LOT. I was told to not tow anything and definitely don't use it to push snow or with a snow thrower (which I'd planned on doing). Sigh...
There's a company that sells upgrade kits for this mower with a significantly better trans that doubles the torque, is rebuildable, and it's easy to dump and fill the fluid for routine maintenance without removing it. I'm likely to take that route rather than have JD put another faulty transmission in. Unfortunately, the cost for that upgrade is about what I paid for the mower.
Before you buy one of these, do a google search on the KT66 transmission upgrade available. You'll see stories (like mine) of folks who had their "tufftorq" K40 transmission fail on them very early and with light usage.
One last nit...the tires have relatively poor traction. Lug tires (assuming that doesn't blow up the trans even faster) would be a very good addition. It struggles on wet grass and easily gets stuck in loose leaves.
Love the mower, in general, but I wouldn't recommend it because of the very weak transmission.

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Steve John Deere 125 riding mower
Our first riding mower and very pleased. We have about 4 hours on it. It starts and runs great. We have mowed some high weeds and grass with no problems getting our 1 1/2 acre mowing area down to a good height. It takes about two hours but we run it fairly slow due to rough ground.

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by pghbill great tractor for the money!
I read reviews and researched subject before deciding on a twin cylinder. Less shaking and better durability from having 2 cylinders, a lot quieter than my 3 of my neighbors single cylinder tractors. I have a half acre lot with hill, 42" with 20 hp makes mincemeat out of chore of cutting the grass.
Only problem so far is how to get warranty service. It came with a sticker for Middleton Service, over 3 days with about 12 phone calls and voice mails, no one ever returned phone call. For $6.00 in parts I fixed the problem myself. I would hate to have to depend on them for something serious. Other issue is running in the dark with headlights on killed the battery, so I had to charge it the next day.I had to jump battery for every start. Battery had defective cell, Deere only covers 1st 90 days before pro rating replacement. Nearest service centers 40 miles away. I got a free replacement and tractor is working fine now!
The D125 has plenty of zip even on my hill, I wish I had more land so I could try out the cruise
control. I got a mulch plug on clearance at Home Depot for $ 25.00. Saving up for a cart and bagging system. Who could imagine cutting the grass could be so much fun!

I took delivery on my D125 a couple of weeks ago. It's my first brand new lawn tractor. The delivery experience was outstanding. The guy was really helpful showing me the features my tractor. He showed depth of product knowlege that was really surprising.
I have about a third of an acre of grass. Having not driven a lawn mower then driving my new one showed me a huge difference in how powerful, agile, and surprisingly quiet this thing is. It's also really comfortable and easy to get on and off (I had hip surgery 5 weeks ago) which is important to me. It turns on a dime. I bought the front bumper and mulching attachment both of which were wise investments from day 1. I also bought a spreader and a large utility cart and they both work great with it. I am still learning how to back up with a trailor, you can quickly jackknife if you're not careful. My only thing is now I'm waiting for my grass to get high again. I keep trying to find reasons to use it and have to refrain myself from going over and cutting my neighbor's yard. I did a lot of comparisons before I bought and I believe I was right to chose the D125.
