Great mower with a few issues that you can deal with. Oil drain tube is an inch and a half short, cant get to right spindle zerk, gas tank refill. Really small things in the overall picture. gas refill, no problem just fill it up after every use and listen for the gas to gurgle and fill up the neck. Oil drain 10 hours and the next one is 50 hours, I just wipe up the oil from my garage floor, and the zerk I can mangage to get to it, just a little difficult. I can go slow or I can scoot, great fun machine.

This is my 3rd riding lawn mower, but my first John Deere. I got sick of replacing my cheap lawn mower every couple years and decided to upgrade to a JD, and there will be no looking back! I've had no issues whatsoever with machine, it starts right up and I start cutting grass. I wish I'd have bought this years ago!

After 27 years I replaced my JD 160 mower with the 235 zero turn. I purchased my mower from a John Deere dealership and it was delivered to the house set up and ready to mow. It was very easy to operate and it does a great job of mowing. I just hope it last 27 years like my first John Deere. A friend of mine ask I why I bought a John Deere and I told him that I grew up on a farm and if it wasn't green it was broke.

Rated 5 out of 5Â by ReverendSteve Best 42" residential zero turn.
I bought this zero turn mower last July (2013) with the mulching kit installed. I looked at and compared the John Deere Z235 with other 42" zero turns by Craftsman, Toro, Ariens, Cub Cadet, Husqvarna, and Troy-Built. The John Deere had the best features for the price compared to competing 42" zero turn mowers. The fit and finish is excellent and much better than competing models. With the mulching kit this can mow rather long grass at a decent speed without clumping. The only issues I have had with the machine are the location of the fuel fill which makes it difficult to fill without a little spillage and the lack of a way to visually see the fuel level in the tank.

I had just purchased a Toro Personal Pace push mower about 2 years ago.....and it has been a headache ever since! After several issues a finally threw in the towel and decided I was ready to start over. I also built a new home which has a larger yard so I thought I would explore a zero turn mower. I have only use it once and it exceeded my expectations. I purchased the mulching attachment as well and it worked very well (my grass was a bit too long though). I was told the mower came with 3-1 blades for mulching-bagging-discharging, I may go and get specifically mulching blades. It cut my mowing time in half and was very easy to get used to. Although I was reluctant to spend this much on a mower, I am glad I did. I just hope the Deer holds up better than the Toro!
