Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Purchase from a John Deere dealer! i purchased the mower from my local dealer. They originally delivered it to our acreage. The mower deck needed adjusting so they picked it up and brought it back after servicing it. The performance was better but still not quite right. Once again the salesman sent the technician out and installed high lift blades and now the unit is mowing very nicely. No strip of grass left and a very uniform cut. Try getting that kind of service from the BOX stores! If you purchase a new mower, make sure you get the latest model. It has the offset right front wheel. The older models have both wheels mounted the same. I think this helps eliminate the complaint of leaving a strip of grass. Run the right front wheel just outside the cut line and all is well. My yard is pretty rough so I slow down a bit which also improves the cut. It is a great performing mower which I hope will last for many years. Thanks to Josh, our local dealer salesman! Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by This is not a good cutting mower. I read several reviews before I bought this mower. Several of them listed complaints about leaving a strip of grass on the right side. I decided to give John Deer the benefit of the doubt and give it a shot. Sure enough as soon as I ran one swipe down my yard I noticed it didn't just leave one strip of grass it left two. I had to go back over my whole yard two times. This mower does not cut well. Not only does it leave two strips but it also cuts uneven. First thing in the morning I'm taking it back to the store. I'm going to give the Toro Time Cutter a shot. I have owned and used several zero turn mowers in my time and I have never had an issue with any mower leaving a strip down my yard. I would have though with John Deer's reputation they would get on this issue and fix the problem. I always believed John Deer was the top dog as far as equipment goes. I learned this isn't the case anymore. May 30, 2015
Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Good for small yards This is good if you have a small yard and tight areas to get around. HOWEVER if you have a lot of land you are wanting to cut this is not the choice for you. I had a issue with the mower leaving a grass strip under the right side. The blades are brand new and I only have 6 hours on the machine. If you are trying to cut grass this is a ok machine but if you are trying to mow grass and make the yard look nice this is not for you. I've heard good things about the commercial series. Returning this tomorrow. 255 series 48". October 3, 2014
Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by This product will have you covered in dust Wished I could have tested this mower before buying as I am covered from head to toe of debris during cutting. The powerful engine has every piece of loose debris flying all over me. August 28, 2014
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Great mower I have owned this mower for over a year and absolutely love it. It is very quick and easy to use. It gives a terrific cut. This mower is simply a lot of fun to use while offering great results. August 19, 2014
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by the produt has great issues I have the z255 riding lawnmower. it is the worst piece of junk that I have ever bought. it leaves a 6 inch strip of grass under the right blade. I have to mow most of my yard twice. I wish that I had never seen this mower. August 14, 2014
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by EZtrak Z255 I bought this as a small timmer mower along with a 1023e with a 60" deck. I'd planned on using the 102e as my main mower. I find that almost always use the Z255 as it's quicker and just plain more fun. the 1023e has a tendacy to scalp my yard where the Z255 gives a more finished look. Always starts, no issues. Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by One of the best Zero-Turns on the market I have had the mower almost 2 months now. My brother-in-law has a Yazookees commercial mower, the Z255 mows as good if not better for less than 1/2 the price. It takes about an hour to mow my 2 acres. Only flaw I have found is when you change the oil there is no way to avoid getting the filter off without dropping the oil all over the machine. Other than that I would give this mower an A+.
