Yes, I use the framing square for just about everything. Marking out 2x6 angles for roof pitches (16 inch length can be used to center wall studs, and the 24 inch length can be used to center roof rafters and floor joists), laying out lines for square cuts, and many other uses. True, the speed square works wonders, but the main thing I use it for is marking 45° and 90° lines or finding the pitch of a roof. Everything else, I use the square. Just hard to beat the accuracy of them. That said, special care must be taking of framing squares, because should they be dropped or bent, accuracy can be off by 1/8 of an inch or more. I recommend every wood craftsman have one.

Don't be fooled by the "Made in USA" label. Just bought a brand new one of these from HD, brought it home and checked the accuracy in the usual way. It's out of square a full 1/8 of an inch at the 24-inch end of the blade. Bad QC I guess. Its going back.

Not much to say about a square. It's accurate. I wish it had high vis markings on it. Other than that durable lightweight aluminum, easy to carry and true to 90.

The Johnson aluminum framing square is well built, true to form and maintains its shape without warping. The measurements are clean and easy to read. .I have been using Johnson squares for some time and I am very impressed.
