What kind of battery does it have? How would you rate the battery life?
Asked by: JimA
Not sure but I think they were triple 'AAA'. Still on one of the original batteries. I think they give you two to start, and you use just one in the locator. No complaints about it. It works good.

Can it be used to measure angle from magnetic North?

I do not see how to set up the instrument to measure the angle between two lanes just to double-check on the Surveyor's performance.
Asked by: Tonn
This is not a compass. It is a protractor devise designed to determine the degree of a slope. So your answer is no, it cannot be used as a compass.

2-Button Magnetic Digital Angle Locator is rated 4.5 out of 5 by 6.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Johnson 2 button angle locator One of the best decisions I've made. Takes all the guess work out of the angles I've needed to cut. The angle indicators on my saws aren't even close to being right. Wish I would have had one long ago.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Upside down Seems to work fine - only problem is it reads the angle in the wrong direction. Tip one side up and it reads as if that side went down. Maybe a sensor was installed upside down?

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Digital Inclinometer This little dude is pretty awesome. We have a calibrated one at my work to measure angles of flight control surfaces on aircraft. I use one at home on my tubing bender to measure the angle during bending. The magnetic feature is a huge plus.
