I work for Habitat for Humanity, and Johnson Levels are the only levels we ever purchase. As you can imagine, our tools take a pretty good beating, but these levels continue to perform accurately even under the constant abuse of our volunteers. That being said, I have started to shift to Johnson for my own personal tools.
Great workhorse of a level. Can take some punishment due in no small part to the solid box-beam construction and shock-absorbing rubber ends. Modeled handles really make it easy to tighten it up to vertical surfaces. And if you ever run the thing over (which is what it takes to destroy it), replacing it is not as painful as some of the more expensive alternatives.

When you are building anything that requires being level or plumb, nothing beats having confidence in the accuracy of your level. This aluminum box level has been very accurate and passes all my double checks. I am building cabinets for a granite countertop installation in my kitchen, and feel confident in it's calibration where another professional will confirm the level and plane of my work for suitability before product installation.

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Chris I gave this a lot of thought first.
I've had Johnson levels since the 1970's and considered another I-beam model. I selected this one because it's so much easier to read the level (horizontal) bubble. The more I use it, the more I like it. It's super accurate. The I-beam aluminum levels are good but this is a definite step up.

I purchased a Johnson 48" level when I gutted my home prior to selling it. I don't mind saying that I wasn't very careful with it. I knocked it over numerous times when it was leaning against the wall and dropped it on numerous occasions from a 7 foot step ladder. I guess the real test of durability came when I dropped it from the peak of a 15 foot vaulted ceiling. Result? Absolutely NO damage!!!! I LOVE good quality products!!! Thank you Johnson!

I needed a new level after my wife ran over our previous one with the tractor. Did some online research looking for one that was affordable yet well-made. I chose this one and so far I'm glad I did. I've used it several times and it handles very well and seems solid.

This is an extremely durable level. I've had this level for around 5 years and have dropped it or knocked it over numerous times, used it as a circular saw cutting guide and straight edge. Even after all that, the paint hasn't even chipped yet! I fully expect that this level will outlive me!

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by DenisBaldwin Johnson Levels are dependable, accurate, always the right tool
I switched from a very low end knock off set of measuring devices a few months back to Johnson and I've been very happy with the results. Accurate, dependable and made with high quality materials, I know that the tools in my arsenal will last as long as I need them to and will be accurate. I use them mostly in metal prep for welding fabrication.

This is a great level it is very durable and can withstand a lot of bumps. It is great on the way that it has the handles for gripping onto and the level bubble areas are nice protected from things that could damage them. All in all it is a great and fantastic tool.
