Customer Reviews

Combination Square is rated 4.2 out of 5 by 19.
Rated 2 out of 5 by from Square not sqaure This was my first combination square. My trusty protractor measured it's angle at 91 degrees. Not too far off, but enough to show about 1/16th of an inch off square over its 16 inch length. I'll be exchanging it tomorrow to see if it was just this one instance. All the other features are very nice, much the same as the other combination squares I saw. A square's main purpose is to be square, though, so even the 2 star rating is being generous.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Clearance bin Find! Been looking for a pair of these for a while but they're usually very pricey but got lucky and.found these in the clearance rack! All metal and just as I expected, quite perfect, kinda would have bought either way had I really looked at how good they would have worked for me sooner.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Really good for the price Used this Square while I was building my deck. Dropped things on it a few times, and it never went out or broke. Sliding action on it is smooth and it's very accurate. Definitely worth the money

Rated 2 out of 5 by from VERY rust prone. I have never once had my Johnson combination square out of my attached garage woodworking shop in the 4 years that I have had it. Within a year of purchase, the rule part of the combination square had gotten caked up with so much rust that it is now VERY hard to read the gradations on the rule. IF it were not for the rust / discoloration issue I would have rated this thing 5 stars though. Operation is smooth, everything is well machined, and when new it is super easy to use. I sure wish the rule part was made with stainless steel or something like that that resists rust...

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great combination square and even better customer service. I've had my Johnson square for years and I finally broke it the other day by dropping it. I e-mailed the company to order a replacement threaded rod (the rod that holds the ruler in place) and to my surprise they told me they would ship me a replacement at no charge even though it's been out of warranty for years. The part arrived within a few days and the square is all set to go again. A quality tool, American made and a great warranty. Couldn't ask for more. I'll always look at Johnson tools first from now on.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Good inexpensive combo square For the low cost of this square, it's pretty good. I own several, some costing quite a lot more, and the quality shows. But I do not want my best squares getting beat up doing non precision work, in harsh environments. That's where these come in. The movement is rough, the scales are stamped, and the blade surface is rounded, (Not machined.) But it is more than useable, and is good for rough work.
