Yes, the frame can be cut down. It actually is marked for cutting a 24" door, to make it easier.

Customer Reviews

Rated 4.5 out of 5 by 2 reviewers.
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Pretty Good. Actually from Johnson Hardware, like the others that are only available online. The instructions aren't the best and leave several points unspecified you need to figure out by yourself. It doesn't take a PhD to figure it out but in a hurry I made a couple of mistakes that forced me to undo a couple of steps to get back on track. This didn't affect the result which I'm satisfied with though. One thing that is worth noting is that the kit doesn't provide any support for drywall at the end of the pocket (on the wall side, opposite of the opening), so if you install the frame against a perpendicular wall, you will need to figure out a way to install some blocks to nail the drywall covering the pocket in the corner. I used the pieces from the frame I cut off to get the frame to the right width for my door. August 10, 2014
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by universal kit difference No one at the store could tell me the difference between this kit vs the other 1500 series kits. (Other than you can cut this one down)...turns out this kit has nylon rollers...and the other higher priced kits have ball bearing rollers. This will hold a 125 lb door vs a 200 lb door with ball bearings. Hope this info is useful to someone else... January 3, 2015
