The Johnson Hardware 1500 Series Pocket Door Frame for Doors up to 28 in. x 80 in. is an easily assembled, premium quality commercial/residential kit for installing a pocket door into a wall. Pocket doors do not need "swing" room, saving valuable floor space while still assuring the full privacy of a standard door. The frame is structurally strong and perfect for the builder or do-it-yourselfer. The kit components are all of the highest quality and durability which is why we can offer a lifetime warranty.

  • Smooth rolling, balanced three wheel tricycle hangers ensure that all wheels carry weight evenly for the smoothest operation
  • A flip of a clip separates hangers from doors for easy door installation and removal
  • Precision extruded box track is made of heavy-walled aluminum and guarantees that your door will not jump track
  • Convex rails on box track trap dirt for free rolling
  • Wood split jamb and wood stud uprights have full steel sides and backs to provide maximum rigidity for wall materials and restricts nails from penetration into pocket
  • Self-adjusting floor anchors allow for settling of floor without disturbing horizontal alignment of header and track
  • In addition to the frame, track, and hangers, kit also includes door guide, adjustment wrench, and door bumper
  • For door thicknesses of 1 in. to 1-3/8 in. (1-3/4 in. door adaptor kit available)
  • For door widths up to 28 in.
  • For door heights up to 80 in.
  • For door weights of up to 200 lbs.
  • Johnson Hardware offers a true lifetime warranty and will replace any item found defective in material or workmanship regardless of its date of purchase

When you build the frame for the opening + pocket, it will be twice as wide as the door, or more precisely:
Height = door height + 4.5″
Width = 2x door width + 1″
This particular frame is made for a 28" in x 80" door. So the rough opening is 84.5" H x 57" W.

CUSTOMER REVIEWS

Rated 4.5 out of 5 by 41 reviewers.
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Disappointing Upon opening the box I could immediately see one of the jambs was cracked. Had to return it and order another as it is available online only. Inconvenient and time consuming. May 3, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by johnson pocket door frame The pocket door kit was very easy to install and instructions were great. Unfortunately the wood frame which is above door opening was bowed badly. I had to disassemble the wood frame then cut the piece of wood which was bowed in order to have a straight frame above the door. I then predrilled holes in the wood piece and used screws to reattach the wood piece back to the door frame. The only real complaint is that this product is called a kit but does not come with the jamb kit or door hardware. If you are installing this product don't forget to order the jamb kit !!! All together the kit makes for an easy install with a great final product. I would definitely recommend this product especially for its easy of install. March 1, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Good pocket door Everything went together well and it was easy to install (This was my first pocket door project). As for the quality, the pocket door frame is sturdy and it operates the way it should. I plan to buy another 1500 Series frame for another project. March 22, 2016
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Best for frequently used doors I've installed both this frame and the prefab frame available in the store. This one is way more time consuming to install. That said, this one operates MUCH quieter and smoother than the prefab door (i.e. you are paying for the superior track and rollers on this one). I recommend this frame for doors that will be opened and closed regularly. Directions would have left an unacceptably large gap between the door and the floor (3/4" hardwood in my case), so I lowered the frame and header by about 3/4". January 28, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Great product - but a quick fix to install directions is needed I loved product. Quality is great. Generally easy to install. However the instructions do not make it clear which side of the track is the door opening and which side is the pocket. For this reason I installed it backwards and had to remove and reinstall track. Removing it took much more time than actual total install becasue it had been totally nailed in place and I did not want to damage any of the brackets. I even read prior reviews that said the same thing, assured myself I would not make the mistake, and I still made the mistake. Yes, maybe I am just dumb. Manufacturer needs to be clearer in install directions. Product is great. October 8, 2013
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Pocket Door Great product. This is the second time I've installed this door system. It's fairly easy. I also cut some 3/4" OSB board and installed between the posts to make the wall more sturdy before installing the sheetrock. Works great. January 5, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Great pocket door unit The Johnson Hardware Pocket Door kit is very well made, head and shoulders above the flimsy ones sold by other stores. Metal reinforced wood side studs and ball bearing track hardware. Very nice and worth the extra cost. December 8, 2015
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Time will tell. From everything I read, this was the better quality pocket door frame to buy. I have three older pocket doors from the late 50's and obviously this one seems very smooth and quiet since its new. Not sure if the wall supports are any sturdier though. I may even say that the cheaper frame in-store may be stronger as far as wall strength. The directions are decent, but not excellent. You will also have to buy the door-jamb trim kit which is not included although I think the cheaper in-store pocket door kit has the jamb kit included. It took about 10 hours from start to finish, re-route electric/plumbing, tear out wall, frame opening, install pocket door then sheet-rock. Don't forget your level and square, they will make or break this install. If you don't know how to use a level or square, you may want to start practicing. June 26, 2012
