Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Bill Great product - but a quick fix to install directions is needed
I loved product. Quality is great. Generally easy to install. However the instructions do not make it clear which side of the track is the door opening and which side is the pocket. For this reason I installed it backwards and had to remove and reinstall track. Removing it took much more time than actual total install becasue it had been totally nailed in place and I did not want to damage any of the brackets. I even read prior reviews that said the same thing, assured myself I would not make the mistake, and I still made the mistake. Yes, maybe I am just dumb. Manufacturer needs to be clearer in install directions. Product is great.

From everything I read, this was the better quality pocket door frame to buy. I have three older pocket doors from the late 50's and obviously this one seems very smooth and quiet since its new. Not sure if the wall supports are any sturdier though. I may even say that the cheaper frame in-store may be stronger as far as wall strength. The directions are decent, but not excellent. You will also have to buy the door-jamb trim kit which is not included although I think the cheaper in-store pocket door kit has the jamb kit included. It took about 10 hours from start to finish, re-route electric/plumbing, tear out wall, frame opening, install pocket door then sheet-rock. Don't forget your level and square, they will make or break this install. If you don't know how to use a level or square, you may want to start practicing.

I had originally purchased a pre-assembled pocket door frame from another big box store. When I arrived home I discovered that it was made in China and had staples that were not even completely driven through what appeared to be pallet grade wood. The hardware was cheap and looked like it would break in a month. I had a solid core door I was going to hang and decided it was not the way to go. I found the Johnson Hardware through Google and the parts are made in the USA and are heavy duty. The roller system features high grade bearings similar to what you would find on a high end set of roller blades. The split studs are high grade pine with steel support and the main channel for the roller system is also high grade steel. This system is made to last.

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Stew This product was extremely easy to install
Product instructions were simple. Easy to install. Frame is extremely durable and heavy duty for heavier door applications. The roller system is heavy duty and quiet and smooth. The design of the frame made finish work a breeze when trimming. Overall I was very happy with the product and the homeowner was very happy with the finished product

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by JB95116 Solid framing and easy to install
I have installed 2 of these now and they are easy to install. Purchased online with Home Depot and arrived with no damage. Johnson Pocket doors provide install videos on their website which was very help full on the first install. Very smooth action and very solid construction. I would not purchase any other type of pocket door.

Great door but did not have all the hardware. I ordered 3 doors all together and none of them had all the hardware (screws, nails) other than that was a very good product. The rollers are ball bearing and are a very nice feature over the cheap nylon rollers found on other models. Highly recommend, would have given 5 stars if all hardware would have been there.

This door was not difficult to install once the original wall was removed and it seems to work perfectly. The only thing I would recommend is for the metal parts on the frame to be painted or have cushions on them prior to installing. Metal tends to leave marks when it brushes against the door when you are first installing it. I took it back out and painted it again, because it scratched up when we first put it in. I actually put some furniture pads on the metal edges this time since it too late to paint them. I am hoping this will keep the freshly painted white door clean. Once it is up again and I can finish out the framing, the spacer that goes at the bottom will probably help. But that goes in after the trim.

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by dabbler Easy to install and works like a charm
My project was a conversation from a standard door to a pocket door. I only needed to removed dry wall from one side of the wall to redo the headers and set the pocket door. Instructions are very clear. I had no issues with the install and product.
