Product Overview

The Johnson Hardware 1500 Series Pocket Door Frame for Doors up to 30 in. x 80 in. is an easily assembled, premium quality commercial/residential kit for installing a pocket door into a wall. Pocket doors do not need "swing" room, saving valuable floor space while still assuring the full privacy of a standard door. Manufactured and designed, the frame is structurally strong and perfect for the builder or do-it-yourselfer. The kit components are all of the highest quality and durability which is why we can offer a lifetime warranty.

  • Smooth rolling, balanced three wheel tricycle hangers ensure that all wheels carry weight evenly for the smoothest operation
  • A flip of a clip separates hangers from doors for easy door installation and removal
  • Precision extruded box track is made of heavy-walled aluminum and guarantees that your door will not jump track
  • Convex rails on box track trap dirt for free rolling
  • Wood split jamb and wood stud uprights have full steel sides and backs to provide maximum rigidity for wall materials and restricts nails from penetration into pocket
  • Self-adjusting floor anchors allow for settling of floor without disturbing horizontal alignment of header and track
  • In addition to the frame, track, and hangers, kit also includes door guide, adjustment wrench, and door bumper
  • For door thicknesses of 1 in. to 1-3/8 in. (1-3/4 in. door adaptor kit available)
  • For door widths up to 30 in.
  • For door heights up to 80 in.
  • For door weights of up to 200 lbs.
  • Johnson Hardware offers a true lifetime warranty and will replace any item found defective in material or workmanship regardless of its date of purchase

Answer:
This should not be a problem. Our door height was 7' and we could have gone shorter too. It's basically installed from the top of the door frame and hangs so it could be as short as you need it.

Answer:
Yes, you can. Just make sure you cut the bottom of the uprights. The top of the uprights have an oblong set of holes on the face of the steel so that you don't have to nail or screw through steel to attach the uprights to the header. So make sure you cut from the ends that DON'T have holes in them.

Answer:
Yes, it can work for any door size smaller than 30", it just won't be marked for cutting at anything but 24" and 28". There are non-standard door size cutting instructions with the frame.

There are markings for trimming only down to 24 inches, so I'm guessing that it will NOT work with a 22 inch door.

The wheels were ball bearing and very smooth. This was important for us since this door was installed on our newborn babies bedroom.

I wouldn't recommend putting anything in the way of the door pocket. It will protrude into the gap and block the door from opening all the way. I actually moved my electrical sockets to accommodate for my door pocket. I recall a story that my father in law told me while we were putting in the door. He installed one for my brother in law a few years back and used a finish nailer to put the door casing around the opening. The nailer wasn't the problem, but the 1 1/2" nails coming out of the gun were! The door wouldn't budge after he nailed up the trim! DOH!! So all in all, I would recommend moving the box a few feet one way or another and routing the electrical above the door. It can be done fairly easily.
Hope this helps! Read Less

Rated 4.5 out of 5 by 92 reviewers.
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by worked great enven in an odd location I had to install this door against an interior roofline, I was concerned it might not work. I searched high and low on the internet for someone else who may have had the same situation, but I came up empty handed. I couldn't ask for it to work any better than it does. Glides smooth and quiet, I am going to install a better door now that I know that it works great. April 7, 2016
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Learning Curve First door took better part of 3 hours to read directions figure out what was what etc. 2nd door went up in 30 minutes. It doesnt seam as sturdy as the added cost vs other pocket doors would suggest, but when the drywall is up, I am sure it will be fine. Only complaint was that one header on one of the two doors was slightly warped. It doesn't look like it will efdect operation. August 9, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Perfect and a great price So happy I found this kit so easy to install and a great price. June 14, 2016
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Does the job, good hardware The kit frame was bowed just slightly, but enough to cause the hung door to rub a little on sliding, even after the door bottom guides were adjusted to the max to compensate. The track slides really well, feels very sturdy. May 24, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Smooth operator My contractor really dislikes pocket doors but recommended this one. We have a small bathroom so it really helped open up the space. The door slides effortlessly and latches nicely. If you want/need a pocket door, this is the frame for you. May 10, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Great Product We purchased this door frame during a master bath remodel. The quality of the product is excellent. Installation was easy and straight forward. Good detailed instructions were included in the shipment. Total installation time was less than 3 hours. I would highly recommend this product. June 15, 2015
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Great product. Great product. Well constructed. Was relatively easy to install even for a novice DIY'er. Much sturdier product than other designs April 19, 2016
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Nice! Very easy to install. Operates very smooth and quiet. A much better feel then your standard pocket door. May 19, 2015
