Answer:
2000 series can hold a heavier door and has a four wheeled carriage while the 1500 uses a three wheeled and carries a little door. For the price go with the 2000 series it'll save you if you every decide to change to a solid door or something like that.

I have a framed opening in my basement that is exactly 80" high. These kits are 87" high when installed. Is it possible to trim off the extra 7" of framing so the pocket door fits my space?

Answer:
The rough opening needs to be 86 3/4" minimum. The bottom of the track hang around 82 1/4" from the sub floor. This allows the door to hang above the finished floor 3/4". While you cut split board you'll save yourself the warranty and hassle of cutting the door to fit a shorter opening if you just move the header to the right height.

Answer:
You can cut the slim studs to any height (even dog door size), they are metal and wood, so need a blade that will cut both.

Rated 3.7 out of 5 by 10 reviewers.
Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by Ok There are not many materials for the price, so I would expect high quality, but that's not what I recieved. One piece of wood was split down the center about 1.5 ft. I glued it together, hope it holds. The pre-marked cut offs were incorrect. They were basically off by 4" on each cut off for the 24" door I am planning on. Following the instructions didn't work, so I had to figure out what to cut off myself, hope I got it right. Haven't installed a door yet, hope the hardware is where the money I spent on it is going. Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by diy problem child Much better than regular frames. Wood quality could be better. Hardware is very good. September 6, 2016
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Very Sturdy Door Frams This pocket door frame is much sturdier then the one they carry in the store and is worth the extra money. There are some drawbacks. 1. It is somewhat complicated to install, so the novice might have some problems with installation. 2. Normally you can just install door trim around the door, however the top adjusters are long so you will need to add an additional piece of trim to cover the opening. Again, not for the novice. We have a glass paneled door to the bathroom and it looks and works great. May 25, 2016
Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Good hardware, poor condition upon arrival Overall this is a good product. Once installed, my door glides smoothly on the track and should last for a very long time. However, when the package showed up on my doorstep, it had been abused. Three of the four brackets were bent and I had to reshape them back to square. The directions were a little difficult to follow but the install was not that difficult. I am not a professional and this was my first pocket door install and it works perfectly. I gave it less than perfect score because of the poor packaging and damage and the poor install directions. April 14, 2015
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Nice Product The pocket door frame was exactly what its described to be: good quality and easy to install. June 30, 2015
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Great Online Video Instruction! Great online video instruction! Process was very easy to follow. However, I watched the video for the 1500 series and planned my rough opening based on the video. But I purchased the heavy-duty 2000 series kit and some of the rough opening specs were different so I had to make adjustments after I received the product. Additionally, the two "slip finger" parts were missing from my box and HD had to have Johnson Hardware ship out replacement parts to me. Parts arrived quickly! Overall though, I am very pleased with this product and I absolutely would recommend it. January 12, 2014
Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Way to expensive for what you get This came without essential parts in the package and took a week and a half to get replacements from the supplier. Next time I will buy another and return it after I take the parts I need and get it faster. This unit is a lot better than the off the shelf cheapie available all over but not buy too much and you have to supply your own jambs with this. The wheels and track are good and the attachment system is good but it takes a lot of planning to get a really good looking finish product to hide the wheels and space above the door after installed. Also the nylon guides for the bottom of the door are a joke because they are tapered and individual and thick making them hard to install correctly rather than the horseshoe type that comes with the cheap frames. Those are always easy to install and I've never had a problem with them. May 27, 2014
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by A much better than average frame & hardware I found this unit because most pocket door frames and hardware are lacking in quality as well as performance. This set up makes the use of a pocket door better. May 18, 2014
