Customer Questions & Answers

Does it go thru a plastic like shower curtain while measuring? Does it make sound at the receiving end at 80ft away?

Does it have a square with open ends that displays on wall at any point? And a red dot? Very important to know. Thanks.
Asked by: manx
Even a perfectly clear shower curtain will disrupt the beam. Even if it is visible, the beam will be distorted to the point of being useless. True of any laser level. Just take the curtain down.

I bought this to line up a tile floor in a room 16' long to save me a trip back to the shop to get my DeWalt turret laser. When I saw the Johnson name, I thought it might be OK - I've owned Johnson levels in the past. This torpedo level didn't work worth squat and I made the extra trip anyway. This laser uses a prism to make the differing patterns (vertical, horizontal, or both) that is anything but precision. At a range of 16' the light beam is a quarter-inch wide! Absolutely no use to me. I am a builder / remodeler of 30 years. I can say that this is one of the all-time worst tool purchases I have ever made, even when I was a rookie. I suppose if you are doing something that isn't crucial, it might be OK, but I can't think of a single finishing job that I would want to do, from aligning tile to putting up a shelf to mounting a hand rail, to hanging cabinets with as much as 1/4" tolerance within 16'. I take more pride in my work than that, and I'd lay odds that you do too.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great little level with nice features! I got this level to replace a Husky level that just stopped working. It has the basic features such as a laser dot which can be switched to either a verticle or horizontal line very easily. I like the fact that it has a magnetic strip so you can put it on ceiling grid material and shoot the line.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from good cheap level with laser works very well, also like the crosswalk/vial adjustments to dial it in 100 percent. this was a spur of the moment purchase, was cheap, and works well. good for plumb, and level adjustments with a dot or a line.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from A Level That's Not Level This product has never been dropped, but consistently seemed a bit off. Yesterday I checked it again by reversing it and discovered that this level is not level. It is off by half a bubble which makes it useless.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Torpedo Laser Level Laser light too weak for out side for checking grade at 8 to 10 feet away. Great idea too cheaply made!!!
