Customer Questions & Answers

In the picture on the back it shows a drill guide. Is it the "holes" or is it an added attachment?;

Asked by: bill
Pony is retooling right now. The drill guide is supposed to be an added attachment, but it is not included at this time. These clamps are officially discontinued, according to the Pony/Jorgensen web site, but I received an email from a company official promising me to inform me when the drill guide becomes available

I can't find this at any store and it doesn't look like it's available online. Is there any way to order it?

Asked by: JonReed
Pony's web site says it is discontinued at this time. A company official emailed me to say that they are planning to bring them back, but did not indicate when.

These are discontinued by the manufacturer so I was very happy to find them at Home Depot. The only problem was that they would not ship and the clamps were in Virginia, while I live in Pennsylvania. Fortunately, I have a nephew who lives in the town in which the HD carrying the clamps is located. I love these clamps, they are perfect for what they are designed to do, which is to hold kitchen cabinets in place as they are being installed. The orange claws grab the styles of adjacent cabinets and keep them together while the face clamp hold the two styles in one vertical plane. They are faster than C Clamps (my old method) and have the added bonus of allowing you to drill the connecting hole for the screw which holds the two cabinets together, and attach the screw, right through the clamp. I have only had these for a few weeks, but I used them in the past and they are the best cabinet install clamps available, in my opinion.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Does what you need it to do I've got a shop full of Jorgensen clamps. I've noticed a loosening of manufacturing tolerances from my older clamps to newer ones. These clamps are no different. However, with the addition of some dry lubricant they operate smoothly and clamp tightly. When you clamp two cabinets together don't expect these to pull the face frames into perfect alignment without a little help on your part. But once you get the frames aligned these clamps hold perfectly and tightly while you drill and screw the frames together. Important Note: You will need two of these. The Home Depot web site lists as a pair but you are actually purchasing only one clamp. No matter - Home Depot has the cheapest price anywhere so even with the mislabeling you'll pay less for two than anywhere else.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Cabinet Claw is not what the package describes I've purchased 4 Cabinet Claw's. The Cabinet Claw is not what the package describes. It was missing the "drill guide" in all 4 packages. The packaging states, "Drill Guide Packet included". No Drill Guide. I went back to the store where I bought them and all they said was to go to another store and get them there. The other store did not have them either. The clerk gave me no remedy as to replacing the missing Drill Guides. The only thing I can do is contact the home office I guess. I'm a professional trim carpenter, so I have opportunity to use the clamps quite often. The clamps do work good even without the Drill Guides, but I would like to try them with the Drill Guides. Please advise.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Very handy for cabinet installation, but this one is incomplete. These clamps pull the cabinet faces together and push them flush. The other one I have has a drill guide, this one and all the other ones I have seen in HD, have the hole and the tapped screw hole for the drill guide, but there is no drill guide. It is a needed accessory and is supposed to be included.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Worth it if you want to be precise These clamps were obviously designed by someone who installed cabinets a few times. The two directional clamping allows very precise flushing of cabinets and extension stiles. The drill guide does a great job of making sure you drill straight. The flip-up drill guide allows the screw to be fully driven without unclamping. Although a 1/8 inch drill bit is provided, it's really too short to drill through one stile into the next (my stiles are 1-1/2 inch wide). Between the drill chuck and the thickness of the clamp, you use up about an inch or so of drill bit length. I used a six inch drill with a stop to get the depth I needed. The clamps open up enough to get around a 1-1/2 inch stile and a 3 inch stile extension. If you need wider than that, more conventional clamps will have to be used. The price seemed a bit high to me but it these clamps allowed a beginner to get professional results.
