In the days of competition and cheap hardware, it's refreshing to get your hands on some quality tools once in a while. This Joseph Bentley collection of garden tools is just that. Don't let the very basic look fool you! These are quality garden tools that are durable and well made. The handles are solid wood, dyed and imprinted. The metal of the tool itself is surprisingly excellent quality, with thick gauge steel and strong welds. Nothing will be bending or breaking off of these. The tool head is strongly embedded into the handle giving it a solid feel with good balance. I have no fear that the head will separate from the handle any time soon.
The trowel is sharp, and with a narrow angled V, will allow you to easily dig into hard soils. The ruler on the front of the blade quickly indicates the desired depth on your first plunge into the dirt, ensuring consistent hole sizes. The head and handle are all one thick, solid piece of steel, ensuring no bending or breaking of this trowel. EVER.
And throw in a lifetime guarantee, taken care of, these tools will last you for many, many years to
come. Color me impressed!
Well made with thick steel and a solid wood handle. Good balance and great quality, despite being manufactured in China. An excellent tool all around.

In my opinion this 13 in. Stainless Steel Transplanting Hand Trowel must be one of the best gardening tools made, in stuck and available in Home Depot. I could be wrong but after one year of gardening, and using it all the times, this tool still almost looks like the day I got it from HD. It looks almost brand new!!! we love the way it feels in your hand when you are working with it, and it made to last for many years of your gardening.

This is the newest upgrade to my gardening toolkit....and my second tool by Joseph Bentley (the first is their highly versatile daisy grubber). I’m absolutely sold on Joseph Bentley. More expensive at first glance, there’s really nothing I’ve found that’s comparable.
I’ve NEVER used (or even seen) a trowel this sturdy, well-balanced, sharp and comfortable. From the finish of the solid wood handle to the craftsmanship of the thick stainless blade, there's no doubt about quality. The 4” scale on the trowel helps achieve desired planting depth and tip to handle-end is right at 12” (a good spacing measure).
Comes with 15-year guarantee. Wish I did!

The last time I was out using my trowel it bent almost in half. I said that day that I would never buy a cheap gardening tool again. I got this one and LOVE this trowel. It's heavy weight (not too heavy) it's super sturdy and it has depth markings on the blade. I know tools aren't all that exciting to most people. For me, this tool is exciting. It hasn't seen much action yet but come spring this baby and I will become best friends. It is just so nice to have a good tool for what you need to do and one you can count on. This one feels like it will last a long time.

I have to confess-- I have a long history of being lousy with flowers, plants, landscaping, etc. You name the gadget or tool, I've tried it. You name the plant, I've probably killed it. But I'm determined to be more successful in my outdoor attempts this season. I'm going back to basics.
And I might have stumbled upon one of the nicest hand trowels around-- this Joseph Bentley trowel harkens back to a simpler time when tools were made of wood and steel, and were made to last a lifetime-- no plastic components, no ergonomic handles, no spring-loaded gizmos. This is an honest-to-goodness wood-handled, stainless steel-bladed hand trowel with a lifetime guarantee. It's even got a 4" depth scale etched in the polished steel blade, so there's no guessing when planting your perennials or potatoes. A very well made tool, it gives me hope that with a little practice, I might get something to grow this year.

This trowel really helped with some planting/transplanting I had to do. It is a sturdy piece with a strong wooden handle. It is sharp and the measuring points on the trowel are helpful for finding the right digging/planting depth. It is in good shape after a few days of use. A good trowel to own if you are a big gardener.

Excellent quality, and a perfect size and weight, this trowel is by far the best I have ever owned! Due to the poor condition the ground in my yard and California's drought I broke two trowels before receiving this. The shaft on the others bent and broke, but this one has been a dream of solid construction that allows me to finish my transplanting projects! I love it!
