Answer: 
Hi Justin,
When used in the water it only heats up enough to deice the water and it shuts off. However, if it is being miss used or being used in a dried up water source the unit will overheat and melt the casing. If you have further questions, Feel free to give us a call at 719-591-6950.

Cord type

What type cord is used. IE 1/4 " or 1/8". Ordering Rubber Stopper so can put "exit" below the water line.
