Answer:
Yes, but sometime it takes 2 application or more. But the best is to wash before painting, eventhough the stain doesn't leave. It'll do with the primer.

Hello! For mold and mildew, we recommend you prime with KILZ Premium. Before primer application, make sure to kill mold and mildew with a solution of bleach and water or a cleaner formulated to kill mold. It is important to rinse well and allow surface to dry thoroughly to ensure no new mold and mildew formation. If you have any additional questions, please contact us directly at ask@kilz.com. Thanks!

Answer:
From my experience the KILZ2 product may require more than one coat to completely cover water stains. Be sure to allow each coat to dry completely before adding another coat. Also, don't try to pile on a heavy coat of primer trying to cover the stain; two light to medium coats that are allowed to dry completely will work better. Original KILZ, the oil-based product, is better for water stains.

We had a roof leak two years ago. Kilz made it disapear in a flash. No kidding. This is the go to cover-up for stains, and patches. We did however need two coats. Be sure to let the 1st coat dry overnight.

As a professional 50 degrees is my limit, and then only if the temperature is stead or increasing with no expected rain. Never 50 late in the day when the temperature is falling as moisture will be increasing and the paint will not dry properly. You must also consider other factors such as paint temperature (needs to be at or above your painting temperature). What your painting also needs the same guidelines. It may be 50 degrees outside but if your wall was facing north it may be a lot colder.
Now if you read my review of this product you will see I do not use it any more, product does not cover like in the past. I would recommend Zinsser Bull Eye 123. I fell it is a much better product for the same price.

some of the interior steel panels of the roof of an Arrow shed that is made of Electro-galvanized steel has some rusting. Will this product work as a primer and be okay with the rust if I use a steel brush on the rust prior to priming and following up with an exterior latex paint?

Not the best, use a primer designed for metal. Galvanized steel has a coating of oil on surface during manufacture which must be removed. Prep first with a mild acid wash to remove oils and etch surface. Paint as soon as surface dries.

I would not recommend this product for unpainted/untreated Electro-galvanize. My recommendation for your shed would be to clean the rust with steel brush and wool. Remove all visible rust and at least one inch of painted area around (please note with a metal gauge this thin you might have little holes). Then use a product like Rust-Oleum® Stops Rust® Clean Metal Primer.

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Good product - works as advertised Kilz works well as a primer and stain blocker. 1 coat is more translucent and stains will show through it but when you apply the color coat the stains do not come through. If you apply 2 coats you will get a more consistent solid color that is not translucent. For this project I used 2 coats to seal the replacement sheathing on a pole barn and to help brighten the inside of the building. July 5, 2016
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by HDR The latex primer/sealer was very easy to use. It covers very well and is very easy to clean up afterwards. July 15, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Great Primer This primer has great coverage. I cover an extremely dark brown wall and it was covered with first application. My skin got stained a little bit and I had to scrub several times for it to come off. Great coverage. July 19, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by kilz paint after a coat of kilz to cover up some graffiti an horrible dark gray paint we were able to repaint the walls In light blue, sorry I didn't take any before or after photos but if anyone has ever used kilz they know how good it is on covering stains an paints of all types July 19, 2016
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by OK but the oil one covers markers on drywall much better. I have a rental where the little tykes decided to use red permanent markers on the wall. Latex kilz is good for a primer but not for markers. I had to use the old fashion oil kilz for that. However the latex makes a good sub base to paint over walls. Paint covers better and actually only needed one coat of paint after the primer. No roller marks when using a primer first. July 13, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by easy use, great coverage The coverage was great, went on with ease, no smell, easy clean-up. Couldn't ask for any better. July 13, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Great This stuff works great! It's much bolder then other primers so it takes a lot fewer coats to cover. I covered ugly dark brown paint and it only took 2 coats. July 12, 2016
Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by KILZ 22-gal. White Water-Based Latex Multi-Surface Interior/Exterior Primer, Sealer and Stain-Blocker I painted a light purple over with a darker purple but used this first and it did not help the painting much. July 12, 2016
