Answer:
Kilz does help kill odors. As far as bacteria is concerned I'm not a lab tech and haven't had the surfaces tested that we have painted. I know it covers up mouse and roach odors along with cat and dog odors. I manage apartments and we get into all kinds of odors. I would think that bacteria would be handled as well, but I'm not sure.

Answer:
Probably won't kill bacteria by itself. You'll probably have to use a cleaner on the area 1st then wait for it to dry before painting it. I've used it to paint over alls to cover up cigarette odor.

Hello Linda! An oil-base product such as KILZ Original would work best for this type of project. If you prefer to use a water-base, our KILZ MAX is a new technology sealer, stain and odor blocker developed that’s formulated to perform like oil-and shellac-base products. If you have additional questions, please contact us directly at ask@kilz.com. Thanks!

Answer:
Hello linda!
No, the label says "mold resistant finish."
This means that after the primer dries, the surface will help prevent mold from re-forming.
The mold must be cleaned and removed first.

I will be changing from orange walls to light green using a good quality paint. I would like to tint this primer to eliminate the need for more coats.

Answer:
I have had it tinted successfully but it depends on the color. If you are painting your walls light green you should be successful with a light green tint then go back over it with your paint.

Answer:
I was told when I purchased Kilz that "anything in the paint section can be tinted". I would call and ask someone in the store you're going to goto. That said, going to a light green final coat may work better with a white base coat underneath. Just a thought.

Yes, this product may be tinted with up to 2oz of colorant per gallon (10 oz per 5 gallon bucket). The primer should remain lighter than the paint, this helps tone the surface without creating another that needs to be hidden. Typically, 1/2 of the paint color formula added to the primer is the correct to provide the correct tone, as long as the colorant added remains no more than 2 oz per gallon. This Read More

Answer:
Yes, this product can be tinted at the paint counter at your local Home Depot. It may not be an exact match to the paint color, but it will be close. It may be a few shades lighter, if at all.

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Great primer!! Have used many primers, although this is the best...especially to use in kitchens and baths, as a primer!! August 16, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Kilz This primer is one of my favorites. It is easy to use and covers well works great with stains and orders. August 16, 2016
Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by Wrong product for the job The product was recommended by the paint department personnel for a base primer for the Bear Pro series paint. It was tinted the same color choice as the paint. Once at the job site the paint was very thin. When spayed on the hardibacker siding, it literally ran down the siding. We ended buying large trash cans to "box", mix the paint and Kilz together in order to get a consistent thickness in which it would spray on the house siding and stick. August 2, 2016
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by goes not work the primer did not cover well. i had to use two coats of paint over it to cover what was admittedly a dard green color with a linen cover. July 19, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Good choice Very good primer. Price is Right. We used it all the houses we have. It covers all the stain with 2 coat. July 19, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Great Product I have been using Kiltz2 for years and would highly recommend it for a professional looking paint job! July 13, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by great product This was on sale and what a break I was going to buy anyway. I love Behr products. July 12, 2016
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Too thin I don't recommend this product. We used it as a base paint to cover a concrete bus stop, and it took 3-4 coats. July 5, 2016
