Hi Meg. Thanks for your question. If you intend to prime over old wallpaper, we advise the best practice would be to remove the old wallpaper, scrape off any adhesive residue, clean the wall surface and let dry before applying new primer and then paint. Answer:
Hi Erwin2016,
Thanks for your inquiry. KILZ Odorless is an oil-based primer and has excellent adhesion. In order to ensure best adhesion, I would advise doing a light scuff sanding of the glossy wood panel surface with a fine grit sandpaper.

Answer:
Thank you for your inquiry. Yes, KILZ Odorless can help hide the previous color however depending on how dark the old color is and the shade/tone, it may take more than 1 coat of the paint (topcoat) to completely cover it white. The primer will block off most of the old color however it will not hide the old darker color completely. It is not designed to completely hide it - it will block it, seal it in Read More

The primer will block off most of the old color however it will not hide the old darker color completely. It is not designed to completely hide it - it will block it, seal it in and provide a good surface adhesion for the paint. However the primer will make a world of difference to lessen the coats of paint you will need and will give you a better result. Read Less

Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Excellent stain hiding There are times when latex interior primer, sealer and stain-blocker just does not do the job; that is when I reach for this Oil-based stain-blocker. We had a water leak on the ceiling, fixed the source, but were left with a stain. The latex stain-blocker didn't do the job, but the oil-based DID! There truly was no discernible odor, and I have a sensitive nose and asthma. However, the oil-based stain-blocker is thicker than I expected and left more visible brush strokes. Using a roller would have taken care of that but the area I needed to cover was so small I went ahead with the brush. If this oil-based stain-blocker is used for a large area I would suggest a roller or thin it a bit for brush work. July 26, 2016
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Was so thick! I should have looked at your video after I bought this primer. It was so thick I had a hard time using it. Clumps on the wall I was covering a paint job that we did not want any more. I did not know that it should be like paint consistently. Now when I re paint this room I will have to sand the walls to make the room look right. June 28, 2016

Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by They should not label it odorless when it has a strong oder I sealed my bathroom and had the exhaust system running for three days and still had a strong odor it's OK for outside use but I don't for indoors December 27, 2015
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by top notch calci-coater! Antique homes frequently have the old calcimine coating on ceilings. Often, homeowners have put a latex coating on and the result was a peeling mess, so they call in the professionals! Years ago, I used to purchase a specific calci-coater that had high fumes. When I discovered the Kilz Odorless, it gave me the product I prefer to work with 100% of the time and I get 100% satisfactory results! I can scrape the calci to a stable surface, roll on the Kilz Odorless and float a new skimcoat surface that makes the ceiling look new! Please keep this product around! I know oil is going by the wayside, but some applications just HAVE TO BE oil! [This review was collected as part of a promotion.] March 22, 2015
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Amazing product! I had to repaint my room and this was what I got. It was awesome. There was hardly any smell to it at all. Normally if you paint a room, the fumes are horrid! Not so with Kilz Odorless primer. I got my room painted and it did the job wonderfully with no horrible odor. I would recommend this to anyone getting ready to paint. Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Very Rough SUrface after Drying I had a new bookcase built with pine so I wanted a good stain blocker for the knots. I chose Kilz Oil base Odorless in the gallon and rolled it on using a 3/8 knap 4" roller. Prior to applying the primer I sanded the wood and filled all holes to get a smooth surface. After the primer dried it was extremely rough and now I have to sand the whole bookcase over again. This is more a bookcase wall that if 10 feet high and 18 feet wide. To say I am unhappy is an understatement. In the areas where I used a brush you can see brush strocks. This primemr did not appear to level itself at all. This was a brand new gallon that was shaken at the store. I am very dissatisfied. June 8, 2014
